ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) -- Police say a Pittsburgh Steeler Jonathan Dekker has been arrested in Alexandria.

Police say they responded to a complaint at 3:30 a.m. Saturday near Old Town Alexandria. When they arrived, police say Dekker tried to flee, but was apprehended.

Police would not elaborate on the nature of the complaint. They say Dekker, a tight end for the Steelers, was charged with obstruction of justice and released on $1,000 bond.

A hearing is scheduled for Feb. 2.

I think the odds for Pittsburgh just went waaaay down.

Oakland Raiders Barret Robbins
Raiders Lost

Atlanta Falcons Eugene Robinson
Atlanta Lost

NY Giants Adrian Awasom
Giants Won
(However, Awasom was released from the team before the game, so he wasn't a player.)

Willie Andrews of the Patriots was arrested just after the SuperBowl, which the Pats lost, but maybe that shouldn't count since it was the day after and not the week/night before.

Didn't San Diego have some guy that up and quit before the SuperBowl or AFC Championship one year?

As for Dekker, he appears to have spent most of his time with the Steelers on the practice squad, so I don't think they will miss him.

What's ironic is that he played football at Princeton. Someone should pass that along to Mrs. K....

Dekker has been on IR for a long time, there is no impact.

Guess that's why the cops were able to catch him when he ran.

What was that hour long drama on ESPN about life in professional football? It was cancelled because the NFL deemed it "unrealistic". I think it was too realisitic for old Paul Tagliabu and his precious empire! (at the time he was NFL comish).

It was called 'Playmakers'...totally unrealistic...depicting NFL players as common street thugs...carrying guns...getting involved in bad situations. Really not fair when you have stand-up guys like Plaxico Burress and Adam 'Pacman' Jones representing the league.

FWIW, Real Sports on HBO has a good story on NFL players gun habits.
