I remember going into the Warner Brothers Store in Fair Oaks When I was little. Does anyone know when it closed?

Years and years ago. Probably around 2000 or 2001.

Wasn't there one in Tysons as well? I believe it was close to where the Franklin Covey store is/was on the first level.

You're thinking of the Disney Store. It's still there, BTW

Also remember Tilt arcade being at the corner where Banana Republic is. Closed for good shortly after it got raided for being a drug flea market.

I think the store was where the Abercrombie currently is.

The Warner Bro's store at Fair Oaks closed in 2001. My husband worked there up until it closed. It was located where the abercrombie kids is now.
The one at Tysons closed later in 2001. It was located near the Nordstroms wing. I think there is a upscale clothing store there now near the radio shack and where they put santa during Christmas time.

I used to LOVE the Warner Bro's store!

Oh.. it was all the way down at the other end of the wall? Damn.. I was way off. The Tysons WB store was pretty big.. I do remember that.

Damn, there used to be an arcade in FO? I have been going there since 87' and dont remember one. I do remember the one in Springfield Mall, and Manassas Mall. Funny, cause I went to Manassas Mall about a year ago and the arcade was still open...I remember wondering how it was staying open (it was empty...just kids loitering/no money to spend). Went to Macy's this past Xmas and walked past, it's out of business. That mall gives me the CREEPS! I never take my kids there and refuse to go alone (without my hubby).

Wasn't specific in my previous post... that arcade was actually in Tysons. I do not recall an arcade ever being in Fair Oaks, although I haven't been going there that long.

I remember the arcade at Tysons. It went from the door near Slades thru to where Banana Republic is now. It was there probably up until 1996 or so. I'm just glad they got rid of The Rainforest Cafe. I HATED those stupid birds. It would have been fine if it was outside but you could hear those stupid things all over the mall.

Ha.. I totally forgot about The Rainforest Cafe. I wonder why that place closed? It was annoying and overpriced, but every time I walked past there the place was packed and people were always waiting for a table.

That place took up a HUGE amount of space in the mall, I'm sure the rent was really really high. And taking care of those giant aquariums, and all of the other entertainment equipment, has got to be a big expense. I also doubt that their gift shop was bringing in enough $ to justify all the space that it took up.

I can't really say I ever had a bad meal there, it was all just extremely ho-hum. The only reason to go in there was to entertain kids; the food was sort of an afterthought. I remember their menu was really lame, it was hard to figure out what to order, because nothing sounded very appealing. I was glad to see that place go.

The FAO in the Galleria closed more than five years ago.

The brain trust at Warner Brothers thought there was a consumer base that would support a chain of Warner Bros stores the way Disney can maintain Disney Stores. The problem is that Disney has a fucking cult supporting it. Most trailer-dwelling rednecks love Disney. They will forgo saving for their kids' college to go to Disney World or on a Disney Cruise. The only time they will walk into a high-end mall is to buy a $50 Nemo doll from a Disney Store that they could easily get from Wal-Mart for $12 just to have the Disney Store receipt.

Warner didn't have a cult of rednecks, so its stores failed. The problem is the Chuck Jones' inspired Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Coyote and Road Runner appealed to people who were too smart to fall for this shit.

No arcade has ever been in Fair Oaks, the mall management didn't want the mall to be anything remotely resembling Springfield Mall and the Time Out arcade.

Warner Bros was a cool stop for their merchandise but they made the mistake of thinking they could charge what Disney charges for their stuff only without the theme parks to back it up.

Where FAO was located is now a Juicy Store and an AMAZING but overpriced restaurant called Wildfire. If you like Calamari there's is some of the best I've ever had!

Interesting argument. "Taz" has a dedicated redneck cult. Perhaps the Warner Brothers store should have installed a tattoo parlor.

Note that "Taz" is one of the few WB characters that doesn't really talk.

The "'necks" are also fond of the Road Runner, but "don't get" Bugs Bunny or Daffy Duck.

Taz talks. He sounds like most professional NBA basketball players.

True. At least those redneck couples in need can still find their WB gear online. You know: puffy acrylic "Taz" sweatshirt for the guy, an oversize denim Tweety Bird button-down shirt for his special lady, and his and her pleather Yosemite Sam cigarette cases. Sure, those last two characters talk, but they talk simple.

The entire WB Store chain shut down in 2001.
The stopped manufacturing most of the clothing items so
you can't get them online, either. (I've seen people
selling used polo shirts for amazing sums, though.)
The ones I liked were nicely embroidered, so I can
take those off and have them sewn onto some new shirts.

I miss that store.

I admit, the warner store had an interesting array of mad magazine collectible crap, also. I enjoyed going in and checking it out. But, the store was an amazing rip-off for every single item, even stuff I wanted.
