A Bluemont man has been charged with destruction of property for vandalizing a car after an apparent road-rage incident Tuesday, according to the Virginia State Police.

According to the report, Sr. Trooper M.S. Middleton was called to an Ashburn business Tuesday morning after a Maryland resident whose GMC SUV was spray painted on the rear tailgate and rear window. The owner suspected the damage was done by a man he had encountered on the way to work that morning.

He said he was stopped behind a pickup truck in a left turn lane at the intersection of Waxpool Road and Old Waxpool Road. When the truck failed to move forward in the lane, the GMC driver honked his horn. The pickup still didn’t move and the GMC driver moved around it and drove way. The GMC driver noticed the pickup following him as he continued to work. Later the florescent orange spray paint was discovered on the SUV.

Middleton canvassed the area and his investigation led him to a nearby location with small orange marker flags and fresh paint matching that used in the vandalism. He contacted utility companies to identify any company or contract vehicles that matched the description of the pickup. He also stopped by several construction sites to see if anyone could help identify the suspect pickup and its driver.

While driving around the area Middleton noticed another set of orange marker flags and paint and spotted the suspect vehicle as described by the complainant.

Francis Rueschenberg, 53, was identified as the suspect and charged with one count of destruction of private property, a Class 3 misdemeanor offense that carries a maximum fine of $500.

The incident remains under investigation.

The state police also issued some advise on what to do if confronted by aggressive drivers:

• Get Out of the Way. First and foremost make every attempt to get out of their way.

• Put Your Pride Aside. Do not challenge them by speeding up or attempting to hold-your-own in your travel lane.

• Avoid Eye Contact. Eye contact can sometimes enrage an aggressive driver.

• Gestures. Ignore gestures and refuse to return them.

• Report Serious Aggressive Driving. You or a passenger may call the police. But, if you use a cell phone, pull over to a safe location.

Agreed. Hats off to the trooper for his sublime detective skills.

The 50 year old guy was probably mad his parents named him Francis.

ABSOLUTE ROT

obviously the GMC had been agressive driving

and the paint was a penalty before a verdict

the paintor is at risk of any part of his street justice that was not fair justice

the paintor is not responsible for any part of justice that is fair justice

however. destruction of property is never good. he must un-destroy the property, but only after the GMC owner pays up his scoff ticket for aggressive driving: no funny i assumed there was moneys, only after, not before or without.

------------------------------
the GMC owner cannot be fully recovered for all we know he entracted the fight intently. and it sounds like he did.

to come into equity one must come with clean hands

do not give the assumably harassing GMC owner* a dime until he pays his own traffic ticket

fine jon doe for wanton destruction and then also for painting the truck if the GMC owner pays his ticket. but the ammount is wrong: $200 of damage he thought was justice should be $200 + $50 scoff + court fees. court fees should not be $250 for a misdemeanor 3.

if court fees are $250 for a misdemeanor 3 then that is something VERY NEW and should be investigated. traffic tickets were $15 and maybe $20 court fee if you challenged in court and lost, in 80's i believe.

check the books on court fees if they've 5x the court fee then file a restraining order on the damn judges

(thus the object of retribution, which is the prime assumption, the lesser assumption is that it was for no reason: that must be asked and proven not assumed)

in elementary school a teacher brings the axe down on who she sees fighting and, like a bitch, doesn't care the other started it

your bringing the axe down on a person who "filed a complaint with paint". the court is not HS

his side of the story, which the other side already admitted occured, must be weighed

otherwise it is a kangaroo (excuse me, batty) court that is awarding the aggressive to be aggressive by the gamble an officer will not see it

playing favorites

NYC often sued these people for what reason we still can wonder ...
