The homeless guys you are referring to are no longer, one was hit and killed when he crossed the road at night. The other one disappeared or left the area, they used to camp out behind the shopping center where my husband worked. My husband called the police because they would crap and pee in the corner of the enclosed area leaving piles of crap and not clean it, they were kicked out several times. The police were called another time because one of them was begging and harassing shoppers at the center. The reason they stuck around was because the Chinese restaurant would feed them leftovers, when the Chinese place left then they moved.

No, people are living in the tents where the pic is (the tents are full up and now there's a lot more trash than what's in the pic). I saw them yesterday. This spot is behind Cameron Glen Health and Rehab looking South (toward Reston Library), and the rear of Sunrise Assisted Living is a little further up the path in the pic.

my theory is if they aint hurting anyone let them be i agree they should pick up trash but they are just like most people regular hard working americans who are down on their luck and the reason why most times police dont run them out is because their is already overcrowding as it is some homeless people will purposely do somthing get arrested and go to jail to get meals and food thats all i have to say

Inova is probably going to do something with the Cameron Glen and Access parcels. The rehab nursing facility is moving in to a new building when it completes sometime this spring. The site will probably be rezoned.

Oh great. I guess they figure woods (green space) is wasted space. Got to pave it over!

The Lutheran church in the corner of RA's Hunters Woods Community Center now has a tent dweller staying there with the church's permission. $635/yr to RA gets us homeless dudes in tents in the backyard…and if the church is sponsoring this, why can't the church do better than tents?

I understand this area will be cleared out soon if it hasn't been already - lots of complaints about it basically being a bathroom for homeless people.

My understanding is that the pastor has granted permission for 3 people to live on the property. Why?

Let them be. They are bothering no one.

They just happen to be down on their luck and are trying to be self-sufficient and not clog up the shelter system. Leave the beds for those that truly need it that have health problems and such.

Heck, if I became homeless tomorrow- I would camp out in my RV trailer until I was able to afford something again. At least I have that luxury, most don't.

It doesn't help there are no affordable (meaning sub- 1,000 per month) apartments ANYWHERE in Fairfax County. A lot of these homeless HAVE jobs but simply can't afford first/last/security all at once.

A lot of us are 2 paychecks away from losing our residence anyways....it's the economy.

Where the hell do you expect people to live when you pay them $8 an hour to serve the ugly people all day long?

Can't even designate a bit of land to build them all a tiny little shoeboxes to live in. Keep them with nothing so a few can have everything.

It was nice when almost everyone got to own a house and get married. Now everyone gets to live with their parents until they're 30 and maybe find a nice guy to tie them up and rape them because they like it on the weekend.

Why do you assume that they are shoplifting? They may get target gift cards donated from churches and other concerned people or groups. Plus many homeless people have jobs and can just never make enough to get ahead or pay rent, especially in the Northern Virginia area where rent is ridiculously high that even the middle and working class cant afford to pay rent! You people on here make me sick! Where is the compassion. These people are the same as you and me, only they have fallen on hard times just as we could as well!
