I'm turning 21 soon and I want to go out the day of my birthday as well as later on(obviously). My friend said to go to restaurants and order drinks you have to get a horizontal id as they won't accept the vertical under 21 id. How does that even work, do I have to go to the dmv the day of my birthday and get a new id? Do they even give them the day of at the dmv? Any help would be appreciated.

Not true at all, I still have a vertical ID. My ID does not expire for another 2 years, so not going to get it replaced till then.

Just turn your id sideways so it becomes horizontal!
They will just look at the dob on the I'd and will be to busy to recognize difference!
