Arlington County fire investigators are trying to determine what caused a Saturday afternoon blaze that left two people dead.
Firefighters were called to the 1900 block of S. Langley Street about 3:40 p.m., where they found a single-family home engulfed in flames.
The first units on the scene reported people trapped in the house, and a second alarm was called, according to the county fire department’s Twitter feed.
About an hour into fighting the fire, Arlington officials tweeted “Update: victims are outside being treated, switched to defensive operations.”
Not long after, they posted another tweet reading: “Fire is out. Investigation underway. Two confirmed fatalities working to confirm their identities.”
