Fatal Crash in the Merrifield Area

McLean Police District – Around 7 a.m., on Wednesday, March 12, a pedestrian was attempting to cross from the west-side of Gallows Road to the east-side at Belleforest Drive when he was struck by 2010 Toyota Corolla in the roadway. The driver of the Corolla remained at the scene. The pedestrian, 64-year-old Leroy Jewell of Falls Church, was transported to a local hospital where he died.

The crash remains under investigation but speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.

Has anyone else noticed lately that most of the car accidents are either caused by people in their 60's (driving) or they are the victims (being run over).

no but if you can show any data do share with us

(i doubt fx. coroner would share with you unless there was no data: if there were then obviously it was being withheld intently and will continue to be)

no people ignoring crosswalks and runn into the street risking being hit are pretty common i saw it at fx. co. courthouse not long ago. do they do it on purpose?

i do noting ALLOT of activity by foreigners who to me appear to be trying to create traffic situations fishing for lawsuits

like jumping behind a moving car right from the angle of blocked vision

this is why i have a kink in my neck: twisting it to look really damn hard every last time

From what I could see, the Toyota only stopped when it hit the median and couldn't go any further. Windshield was shattered, and it was a hundred feet from the intersction.

Sounds like he was crossing Galloes from the Metro station to catch a northbound bus back into Falls Church. Would never have happened in the bus loops were kept where they had been for decades.
