It's part of Obamas plan for a four day work week. Right out of the Socialist Workers Party agenda.

Still over a month away. Just like the last time in 2011, there seems to be a lot of latitude in how budget baselinesimpact the sequestration. The only hard and fast deadline was January 1 for the change in tax laws.

Amazing how republicans are completely clueless on facts.

The sequester was the idea of republicans so that congress would be forced to make a reasonable budget and the government could keep going for a few months.

The idea was make the cuts so bad that the sequester would never happen.

Typical Liberal
Mostly true but twisted around.
You have the facts straight except for one. The sequester was Obama's idea beginning to end. The Republicans just called his bluff.
Then he directed all of the agencies to make the cuts a painful as possible.
He wants to condition the American people to believe that ANY cuts in the Federal budget are bad.
Instead of trimming a little fat (2% of the increase) around the edges he's taking plugs of meat out of the middle.
People who work for a living are being furloughed. But is anybody who sits on their backside collecting a govt check losing a penny? Not a chance. That would lose votes for the Democrats.

What's not amazing is that idiots like you support Obama. You are wrong. The sequester was Jack Lew's idea. Lew was Obama's Chief of Staff.....

http://www.c-spanvideo.org/clip/4294317

Bob Woodward confirmed this while writing his last book, "The Price of Politics" and recently reaffirmed this was true...

http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-TV/2013/02/17/Woodward-Confirms-Sequestration-Was-Obamas-Idea

Max Baucus (D-MT) chair of the Senate Finance Committee, also admits that the idea came from the White House.....

http://twitchy.com/2013/02/20/dem-sen-max-baucus-speaks-out-of-turn-admits-sequester-was-white-houses-idea/

Must suck to be so fucking stupid and uninformed and then get bitch-slapped in front of everyone here.

House Resolution 933 allows the military services to "re-program" funds to pay for bills and one of those bills appears to be the civilian furloughs which is why furloughs are now a 50/50 proposition at best. The Department of Defense Comptroller made it clear this week he is looking internally for funds to preclude the need for a furlough and has already delayed furlough notification by two weeks which means the earliest they would start are in May.

Maybe it will happen but if HR 933 is signed into law, and that appears to be the direction we are heading, the possibility of furloughs will shrink considerably.

FYI, for bills originating in the House, the HR does not stand for House Resolution.

What does HR stand for?

House of Representatives. Bills originating in the Senate begin with S. and stand for, you guessed it, Senate.

Interestingly, or not so interestingly, there are measures called Resolutions. However, they are matters only concerning the operation of the House of Representatives. A resolution affecting the House of Representatives is designated “H.Res.” followed by its number. The H. obviously stands for House.

I feel like Cliff Clavin. Enough nerd talk for me today, I need to get a beer.

There is no loss of pay only a free vacation day for workers. The sequestor will shortly end and fed employees will be paid backpay with no loss of benefits, just like the last time this happened.

It looks like the Pentagon civilian employees furloughs may be off. The CR supposedly reassigns 10.4 bn dollars to cover the furloughs. It's up to the Pentagon as how it's spent.

Are you a complete idiot? This was Obama's idea, plan, proposal and all his by design. He expected the GOP to blink and pull his ass out of the fire on this one. And yes I am being furloughed and not happy about it.

Why do you blame Republicans??? Do a little research and
You'll find that BO himself helped author that mess.
It was designed to trap Republicans, and it worked...

NO one cut the government back 20%. That would have been a $650 billion dollar cut this year. A real cut, not a cut in the rate of growth. The sequestor cut the federal budget by about $50 billion this year and about $80 billion a year for the next 10 years if it stays in effect. But the admnistration, which controls how the sequestor is implemented, decided that there wasn't 2 or 3% in waste that could be cut, so they're cutting federal salaries instead. Blame Obama, it's his Dept. heads and Cabinet Secretaries that are doing it.

Does anyone even notice or care that the federal workers aren't working? That's what happens when your employer spends more than it takes in. They should be thankful they have jobs.

I notice. Friday traffic is lighter and the lines at the food trucks are shorter. Plus, on Fridays when I have to take Metro, the people don't smell as bad as before.

Funny how those on the right are trying to run away from sequestration now. Both sides gave the votes and agreed to it. I remember Paul Ryan, GOP budget genius, proclaiming it was exactly the kind of agreement the country needed at the time. Neither side is without fault in sequestration. Then again when Breitbart is what you're reading, it's understandable why some lose all perspective on US politics.

Not true
The law does NOT allow pres to pick and chose how the cuts are implemented.
Hence the requirement for congress to pass legislation not to furlough air traffic controllers.
Hell if he could pick he could just cut programs in red states......
