Wind doesn't affect underground power lines. Should be end of story.

Old power grid. you can do most everything on a smart phone, Yet the power grid is locked in the early 19th century.

Came home from shopping and the neighborhood was oddly dim. All the street lights were out, but you could see some porch lights on, so I figured the power wasn't out. Got home and the porch light was on, but dim and the kitchen light was out. The lights in the house that worked were all dim. One tv worked and the other didn't. After waiting for close to half an hour on hold, Dominion said it was "low voltage" and they didn't have any estimate when it would be fixed. A few minutes later the power came back in full. Then an hour later it went out totally for a couple minutes then it came back on and has been fine ever since.

It's too bad the Republicans won't let us upgrade our decaying power grid and infrastructure. Funny thing is they'll probably try to blame Obama when it fails entirely.

You neighborhood may be underground. But the lines getting their are overhead. Also the lines feeding your substation are overhead. End of story fuckface.

Man or woman, a fireplace is probably the least efficient way to heat a home. 75% of the heat goes right up the chimney. You may as well burn hundred dollar bills in it.

Probably. OTOH if you take down a tree or do major trimming every couple of years you will probably accumulate more than enough wood for the occasional fire. Even if you don't have trees chances are a friend or neighbor does who is willing to let you have some of the wood if you haul it away. Besides efficient or not a fire in the fireplace creates a nice ambience.

In Obama's economy, you want to siphon off money to bury power lines. Brilliant.

Fireplace is inefficient unless you have a blower on it like I do. Blows that heat right on out and warms my place perfectly!
