if anyone has driven through Annandale recently, have you noticed all of the posters outside buildings in Korean? Not only is it unsightly, it is ridiculous.

Once you witness the signs and look down, there are waves of illegals loitering.

Judging by all of the posters, it sounds like they have a lot of pride in their community. Sorry if it's just not as white as you'd like it to be.

They hired six illegal immigrants to build a small section of fencing similar to the fence that the government wants to put on the US/Mexican border. It took them about 12 hours or so to complete a 20-foot segment.

They then put them in teams of two, and asked them to get past the fence; one team would go under, one team would go through, one team would go over. It took all three teams about 5 minutes to get past the fence with little more than a shovel and some tin snips, and the government wants to spend millions on building 700 miles of this crap.

It enrages me. The teachers at my kids' elementary school can no longer participate in before or after school programs for the kids. They have to spend all of their extra time with the ESOL kids. You are correct. We should just hand over the whole, damn country. Lets just invite in every lowlife who has no intention of investing in our economy and or paying taxes. Let them take away paying jobs from our citizens. We we will educate their children, pay for their health care and even provide them food stamps and welfare. All they have to do in return is send their hard earned cash (since that is how they like to get paid) to their family members in South America. I absolutely see the logic in that.

As much as I agree - English SHOULD be the official language, it's not. What is may you ask - wel, technically, our official language is NA (Not Applicable). Feel free to look it up.

Until we SPECIFY a language, we can't enforce it or make it a requirement. So until then, we have to cater to as many languages as possible.

It should be the official language of government, but there's no way the govt. can prohibit private business owners from posting signs in Korean.

This is America, not AmeriKKKa, where is your sense of capitalism and multiculturism? I read and write in three languages. If I want the business of Korean immigrants, you better believe I will make an effort to communicate on their terms in order to get their patronage. It's simple economics; In America, you miss out on money by not advertising in, for example, Spanish.

I'm all for multiculturalism in this country. I actually like the fact that we have folks from all over the world living and visiting here
BUT, when you stay at a hotel, your expected to sign in first, behave properly and abide by the hotel rules. As long as you do that and pay your bill, your welcome to stay. Your also expected to respect the hotels property and to even leave a tip of some sort.

As long as people treat this hotel with respect and don't turn it into a crack house, I welcome you.

Yeah I saw that show. and the fence was not simillar, it was built to the same specifications the real would be.

And as I said before, it is wastefull to spend $1 Billion dollars on this fence when Wal Mart sells a ladder taller then the fence.

Unfortuneately it was before election season and the Republicans used it as a wedge issue. It was patriotic to build the fence. Hillary Clinton argued for other means - border security and surveillance equipment etc, but was portrayed as being soft on immagration. She too, if I remember correctly, fell in line and voted for this huge collossal waste of money.

Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hammity and the rest screamed loudly to build the fence. I just do not "get" those guys.

The way I see it Annandale could or Fairfax county could vote to limit the number of signs allowed, size or limitations on size and placement, and I have seen well planned areas do this for eye pleasing appeal. But it appears this area doesn't care about such things.

As far as the answer for not doing something, is because we haven't done it that way in the past...MrMephisto...and then cussing Christ because of your ignorance only shows ignorance. The fact that we may have been a fool in welcoming so many foreigners into this country in the past is no reason to continue the policy. You reference our Constitution which happens to be under attack as we speak, and that part should be as well. Because our government hasn't stayed on top of and enforced what policy they allowed is one of the many reasons we are in this mess now.

We helped their businesses when they were doing well with supporting illegals and when they failed...they as a business should be picking up their own tap for running a poorly operated business. Use the remainder of the Bail-out funds to create new jobs and to help American citizens.

I know I digressed but I am upset, since I heard tonight Obama decided to not give the tax break to the American citizens. Why doesn't someone tell these businesses "NO"! This is so wrong on so many levels.

your statement about the show bullshit had absolutely nothing to do with the problem at hand. What does the governments ineffectiveness to police its borders have to do with this situation? A government has a right to decide who can, and who cannot come in to the country. look at mexicos fucking immigration policy, because its way more strict then ours. Mexicans are coming here and basically doing slave labor. If they were legal citizens then employers would be forced to raise wages and benefits in order to attract people to the jobs. Instead they are taking advantage of the illegals that come here, and getting dirt cheap labor. Who wins? not the mexicans, not you and me, the business wins, we all get fucked. A government does decide who can and cannot come in to the country, but we're talking about illegal immigrants. They're going to come here whether or not the government allows, so that point is moot.

From what I've heard, Mexico is rather unkind to foreigners in terms of job opportunities. But we're not talking about illegal immigration to Mexico, so that point is moot as well.

You did, however, hit the nail on the head that the real issue is the people hiring illegal immigrants. They will work as hard or harder for less money, and in our greedy capitalist society, that's just fucking dandy. If the government was really committed to fixing the "problem," it would focus on removing the incentive instead of just putting more obstacles in the way.

I used to be on the fence about immigration, leaning towards "kick them out." Then I saw the way immigrants were willing to stand hip deep in dirty shit water to clean up after hurricane Katrina; most Americans would resort to crime before taking such a shitty job for less money and no health benefits.
