Wood Pellets

Anyone know where I can consistently get wood pellets for a wood pellet stove?
I've tried a few home depots and lowes and non of them are consistent.
And they online inventory system is crap for both. I'm tired of driving from store to store only to be disappointed.

I'm in Fairfax and off 236, the magical place referred to here as Mantua.

I'm looking for about twenty 40 pound bags.

Lowes and HD don't sell quality pellets either. Look for the Hot Shots brand.

There is a hardware store on Indian Head HWy, headed south from the beltway, on the left.

Call before going to make sure they have pellets in stock.

Thats retarded. Why not just turn on the furnace? It can't be that much more expensive.

Something is retarded. Hint: It's not the pellet stove.

I bought and installed a pellet stove because my lower is cold.
I live in a split level and the furnace does okay, but as soon as the upstairs is to temp it shuts down and leaves the lower level cold.

With the pellet stove, it heats from the bottom up and the furnace runs a lot less. It also adds ambiance and makes the lover level super cozy.

I believe with spending $150 on pellets a month, I have lowered my furnace bill by that much at least and most importantly, the lower level is warm.

Thanks everyone, I have called all the places mentioned and no luck yet...much appreciated.

Also, the pellet stove is more convenient that a traditional wood burning stove. It can run 24 hours without me touching it (more if I get an hopper extension), I don't have to haul messy chunks of wood into my house and this makes less ashes. Plus, it's a by product of the lumber industry so it's "green" in my opinion.

Feel free to ask more questions...or google it.

The pellet stove needs electricity to run the auger that feeds the stove. You just fill the hooper with pellets, set the tempature and you should be good for about 8 hrs or so.

Speaking of pellet stoves, does anyone have a 'pellet stove cleaner/repair person' that you would recommend. Ours does great for a few days, then just crawls. The auge seems to seize up. There seems to be restricked air flow also, as the flame is not as bright as it used to be. We think the previous owner may have burned real wood, just a guess though. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

We have a split level and the downstairs fireplace has one of those inserts where you close and latch the door and there's a knob to control a blower. In the two years we've lived there we haven't been able to use it because it doesn't turn on - some day I'll open it up and check the wires. Can I burn those wood pellets in it? I would also like to know of any repair folks same as shoeshine girl.

A wood pellet stove is intended for people who live in remote areas where it is very cold but cannot just cut firewood from their own property. Pellets stoves really aren't a good system if you have other options because you still need electricity and the pellets are expensive. If you have access to natural gas that would be a lot less hassle for a person who lives in civilization.
