FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- A Springfield man faces numerous charges after running through traffic, fleeing officers, entering a nearby home and scuffling with the resident, Fairfax County Police said.
The incident took place early Friday morning at 7:10 a.m. near Braddock Road and Olley Lane, where police responded to numerous reports of a man moving in and out of traffic lanes and shouting at passing cars.
As an officer arrived and started to investigate, the man allegedly advanced toward him, police said. The officer utilized his Conductive Energy Weapon (aka Taser), however, the suspect fled from the officer, according to police.
An extensive search began to locate him. An investigation determined the suspect attempted to enter a nearby home but was unable to. He entered another home through an unlocked door; the resident confronted him and brief struggle ensued, police said. The suspect fled the home and encountered officers, who immediately attempted to take him into custody.
The suspect allegedly resisted and after a brief struggle, officers gained control of him. Adrian Wright, 19, of Springfield, was taken to jail and charged with attempted burglary, burglary, assault on a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
The burglary victim, who struggled with the suspect, did not require medical attention. The suspect was transported to a local hospital to be evaluated and treated for minor injuries. Three officers were treated for minor injuries.
