Just heard gunshots and now cops all over Brookfield plaza in Springfield va anybody know what's going on? Maybe it's a repeat of what happened in 2010?

Fairfax link says shooting was a result of fair fax county chasing down a man who robbed the jewelry store there.

WASHINGTON — Fairfax County police have asked people to shelter in place following a police-involved shooting Saturday in Springfield, Virginia.
Police said the suspect is still at large.
The incident occurred in the 7000 block of Brookfield Plaza. Police said the suspect fled the scene on foot. A subsequent crash in the 7600 block of Hooes Road may have been the result of a carjacking tied to the robbery, police said.
Police said the officer involved in the shooting was uninjured. Further details were unavailable.
Brookfield Plaza has been shutdown until further notice.

I saw 4 empty cop cars on the parkway and the accotink creek bridge. They must be out on foot.

just watched the FCPD press conference.
trouble unknown call came from the jewelry store in the complex. patrol officer responded and took cover. suspect ran out of the store with a handgun. police officer challenged the suspect, and the suspect opened fire at the officer. officer shot back at the suspect. bystander was shot, and it appears he/she was shot by the suspect.
suspect ran to getaway car. crashed it near spring village dr. carjacked someone and then crashed that car on hooes rd.
still looking for the suspect.

I saw the FCPD running lights and siren down the parkway from Hooes/Pohick towards Rolling. This was around 12:50 4 FCPD cars were on the ramp for Rolling/old Hooes.
On Greenspring Village Dr. there was some kind of police incident, looked like a crash of sorts, with a minivan on the wrong side of the road by the FCPS housing project. 2 FCPD SUVs were there.
Then, heading back towards Pohick, I saw the cruiser sitting on the Accotink creek bridge. Figured it was a manhunt.
Obligatory helicopter was overhead, too.

It seems the bystander that was hit by the suspect as he shot at the officer positioned the parking lot, will not make the night and is being kept alive by "artificial" [unsure what that implies] means.
Looks like our suspect will be facing down some good ole capital punishment. Very disheartening to hear about that poor son of a bitch that was minding their own business, then gets gunned down by some piece of shit.

Once on scene, officers quickly determined that there was an armed robbery in progress. As the suspect exited the Dubai Jewelry store an officer challenged the suspect and the suspect fired a handgun at the officer. From behind cover, the officer returned fire as the suspect fled on foot. A motorist, passing by in the background was struck by a bullet that appears to have been fired by the suspect. That victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. It is unknown if the suspect was injured. The suspect was described as black, 20-30 years old, wearing all brown clothing, but it is believed he may have changed clothes.
The suspect entered a vehicle and fled and then crashed at Spring Village Drive and Hampton Creek way.
The suspect then carjacked a vehicle and fled again, this time, crashing in the 7600 block of Hooes road where he bailed out of the vehicle and fled on foot. No motorists were injured during the carjacking.
Patrol officers, K-9, helicopter and Troopers from the Virginia State Police, are searching the area.
Detectives from the Major Crimes Division and from the Crime Scene Section are on the scene.
The Department of Public Safety Communications (DPSC) alerted the community to a dangerous subject in the area and included the suspect’s description.
No officers were injured by gunfire.
Chief Edwin C. Roessler, Chief of the Fairfax County Police Department, briefed the media from the scene of the initial robbery.
