You lose certain rights once your a convicted felon, it is what it is. You cant own a firearm or vote. Certain jobs are now off limits completely (law enforcement, military, EMS, etc.). In a competitive economy an employer will probably hire the guy with no criminal record over the drug dealer who was in prison for ten years.
Dog the Bounty Hunter is a convicted felon and cannot carry a firearm, even though he is doing incredible patriotic work, he still can't own a gun or vote; and that's the way it should be. This moron governor knows that the vast majority of felons are politically to the left; after all, the ACLU loves defending anyone who will cause harm to our society, especially felons!

In almost all states a felons rights are automatically reinstated after they have completed their sentence, exception being right to bear arms, some states make them wait five years. Virginia is only one of 4 states that required them to apply to have their rights reinstated, which was almost always granted. However, most never apply. If they pay tax's they should be allowed to vote.
