Best Buy coming in Fair City Mall, Fairfax

Rumor has it that there will be a Best Buy where the Ross is in the Fair City Mall shopping center. I am trying to see if anybody else knows anything about it? Seems like it will crowd the already packed parking lot with shoppers!..

I love the movie theaters in that mall. The bitch is the parking. I have to wait near Shoopers fod and follow someone. It usually takes 10 minutes to find a space. Good luck Best Buy!

there has been a best buy "going in" for some time now in that location. Does it really matter one way or another? I'm not trying to argue, I just wonder what difference it will make when there are a million others around here.

I can see it giving the area a little bit of a makeover. Stores like Ross, Chuck E Cheese, etc. are not very vibrant.

Why, in the current economic malaise, would any retailer be opening new stores in an already saturated area?

And it's going to get much worse....the credit card industry is furiously cutting credit limits and raising interest rates. They know what's coming...

Best Buy should know that motherfuckers with maxed out cards can't buy the latest bullshit pop culture electronic doodad.

Personally, I don't know anyone looking for a job that can't find one. I'm just wondering if this is overblown.

Best Buy got slaughtered this Christmas. I wouldn't be be surprised if they stopped opening any new stores for a while.

Jesus. The Number 1 Job Creator in the country right now is the Federal Government and you live in the backyard of the Federal Government. Are you serious?

The job losses are hitting pretty much every part of the country except our area. Even California is getting seriously hammered.

Name a sector that is actually doing well right now? Manufacturing? No. That's why rust-belt states like Michigan, Ohio and Indiana have houses on the market for $500. Energy? Not anymore. That's why Texas and Louisiana are struggling. Technology? Fuck no. Look at California. Finance? God no. Look at New York. Even the Sin Industry is on the ropes. Look at Nevada.

The only...ONLY...job paying right now is related to government largess. That's it. That's NoVA.

Be thankful you live here and not in any of those other places.

You make it sound like I don't know anyone outside the DC/Metro area. I know lots of people that are worried but no one actually looking (do you?). Besides the majority of my friends are in the private sector.

Generally speaking, by the time the public is "in the know" the best/worst has passed.

Really?

"Best Buy said revenue for the fiscal month that ended Jan. 3 climbed 4 percent to $7.5 billion. Sales at its Web site surged about 34 percent as shoppers continued moving to the Internet for their holiday purchases."
