They should take a cue from the Bay Area cops and just shoot the kids in the back when they are laying face down with cuffs on.

Hmmmm...I live in Middleridge adjacent to Fairfax Club Estates where this happened and this is the first that I heard of it. Also, the police report says Burke, but it is actually in Fairfax.

Are there different kinds of paintball guns? I ask because kids love to shoot school buses with paintball guns.

My bus has been hit hundreds of times over the years and I have never had a window broken from it.

It's really no big deal because that stuff isn't even paint, it wipes right off with a paper towel, even long afterwards.

What i hate is snowballs! I have had bus windows broken by them. And I have had my head busted by a snowball, almost knocking me out while I was driving (took nine stitches)! You have to remember to keep your driver windows closed at all times when snow is on the ground!

yes, some shoot at higher velocities and at a faster rate of fire. additionally, the colder the paintball, the higher PSI required for it to break. finally, there are different types, thickness and shapes of glass.

Yes, Gravis, the side windows have been numerous times.

I think they are made of safety glass like cars have.

The ex-BART cop is just a murderer, plain and simple. I give credit to BART for not making excuses for this asshole. This asswipe obviously had no business carrying a badge and a gun.

reason the car glass breaks is that its very cold this time of year, so glass is even more brittle. and the paint balls are in theory at least harder as well (colder/denser). pluss the side windows on busses are a bit smaller than those on cars, so they have a bit more support.

At least thats my theory....:) I've been paint balling before, and you can dial up the muzzle velocity on a paintball gun...

This is the kind of crap that gives people who play paintball a bad name.

Most paintball markers are designed to shoot 280-300 fps. That won't break glass. It won't break through the thin plastic lenses that are in the goggles.

They can be adjusted to shoot faster than that. Once you start getting up to 350 fps or so, it's highly unlikley that it will come out of the barrel. Especially in the winter time, since it makes the paint shell more brittle, and your marker becomes a pudding shooter.

Chances are, they bought some piece of crap gun at wal-mart, and their crappy paint that won't break on anything, which is why it was goign through glass. But, they may have had frozen balls, or something else to break teh windows.
