Is anyone else noticed these numerous f_ _ _ing signs all over telephone poles and other VDOT property? I rip them down every time I see them. However they keep coming back. They make our city streets and neighborhood look like shi*.

These signs are F___ing everywhere and they look like shit. Besides the fact that it's illegal to post things on VDOT property, can these fuc*ers be stopped? It's gotten to the point where I just google call them and Txtdrop just to fuck with them.

Before the trolls roll in, no I'm not butthurt, or some fat old lady with nothing else to do but bitch. I'm a proud member of my community, I take pride in my neighborhood, I pick up litter when I see it blowing around the street rather then let it keep blowing into someone else's property.

Tips? Any legal repercussions?

Thank you OP for tearing them down. Leaving illegally posted signs just encourages the filth to post still more. Eventually, the region would look even more like Detroit or some other failed Obamaland.

Please elaborate. Are you insinuating legal or physical repercussions? There is nothing illegal or inappropriate about taking down illegally postage signage. These *people* don't own the property they are posting this trash on, thus they have no legal right to do so.

I only censored the swear words because I'm new to this forum and wouldn't like to be banned for trivial things.

It is technically illegal to tear down illegal signs yourself. Only citizens directly participating in the "Adopt a Highway" program on their designated road can legally remove signs. All other sign removal must be performed by the commonwealth.

Don't get me wrong. I hate them and rip them down too.

There were some laws passed recently that has the county taking down the signs... I think.

You can rip them down. It is illegal to post signs on utility poles. Poles are owned by VDOT and they don't give permission to put up signs. Signs are considered litter. Rip them down.

It is technically illegal to remove these signs, but I do it all the time. Back in 2002 an illegal sign poster staked out a location and caught the guy who was tearing them down. He had him arrested and the vigilante was ordered to pay restitution of several thousand dollars. For me it's worth the risk--they are a scourge.

Lol, someone lives in Chantilly. Sorry we don't see them in the nice parts of the county, they must know their market. Enjoy your commute home.

What you can do is create a bunch of pictures of flowers, or puppies, or peace signs, etc., and place them directly in front of the offending signs, without touching the offending signs. Then stake that out: if the woodchuck removes your sign, have him arrested.

I though Section 8 Sharon and the BoS banned those roadside signs a couple years ago. Or was that only for political signs.

1) metal value is ~ $800 (ie, aluminum)

2) i tried to sell a vehicle for scrap , local scrap yard said i had TO PAY to give it to them. they are theives i should have called police.

3) salvation army used to give ? $500 for donating a car (see why above)

4) fx co feds complained it was illegal for salvation army to be involved and a law was made shutting down that arm of salvation army

5) after dust settled, a New Jersey 501(c) organization began doing exactly as salvation army had, offering less for metal value, saying "they did it for kids"

6) i think WTOP is still playing the "cars for kids" commercial

NJ isn't into paying for cars: they are running car theft rings in area and are also using fx co gov to help steal cars from unsuspection people who still believe gov isn't full of such thieves

While a car might have scrap metal value, it has a fair bit of other things that offset this value. A/C refrigerant has to be recovered. Tires need to be removed. Oil from engine, transmission and differential needs recovered. Brake fluid needs recovered.

If you sell to this guy, he and his "crew" will break dance for you when you hand them the title.

I'm in New Jersey, and could've written your post including the part about picking up trash. I too tear them down. "We Buy Houses," "Junk Cars," "Cash for your Gift Card," and the absolutely chilling "Unused Diabetes Strips Wanted." All of these bottom feeders are coming in wrecking working-class neighborhoods and would be the first to complain if such trash went up on their utility poles. Keep fighting the good fight!

I have seen these signs when I pass through a poorer neighborhood. This is a way to target the owners of older, obsolete cars and trucks that they cannot afford to repair.

I can see you feel threatened by these junk hustlers, and with good reason. They are after your 1985 Ford Tempo that you drive everyday.

Screw them -- If you have a car to donate or an old car Call brandywine auto -- they will give you between 200 to 600.00 and come and tow your car away for you to salvage.

The guys with signs will tell you they'll give you 50.00 to 100.00 then take your title and sell it to A salvage yard for 4 times that amount ..

Cut out the middle man and call the salvage yard yourselves!

One guy got hostile because I wouldn't sell my old honda to him for 50.00 -- I told him to GTH.
