FFX Co. Police Hiring Standards
Posted by: chris ()
Date: April 30, 2006 11:55AM

Kind of new to this area, and was wondering if anyone knows how difficult it is to join the ffx co. police dept? Also if anyone knows about the Alexandria City police dept as well....I'm only assuming long with having a good background and charachter, do these depts play the game of "who you know." If anyone has any insight, I would greatly appreciate it...take care

FFX county is EXTREMELY hard to get into, start to get to know people in the department and get a college degree.

Call the recruiting section. They are looking to hire 100 officers during the next year since the county approved an additional 41 officers to the department. You don't need a college degree, but it helps. Next academy starts in September, then March.

does anyone know what is it that makes it so difficult to join their dept...a good friend of mine tried twice with them and was denied, but later accepted a position with Prince William Co..today he's an established detective....they tend to drop good people that find success elsewhere

they are extra-careful. The police here, as myopic as they are, are some of the best in the country and our department wants to maintain that rep.

We also pay better than a lot of other police departments, and an FFX Police job is a GREAT springboard to a more prestigious law enforecment job. I even knew an FFX officer who went into the secret service.

I would not call the Secret Service a "better" job than FFX Co police. Their hiring standards for UD are actually quite lower..

I admit I have no idea, and "better" is not the word I used for a specific reason... because "better" is totally subjective.

I said 'prestigious', which I stand by, it is more prestigious to work for the SS than the FCPD.

The secret service does not exist solely for protection. As you are aware they also defend our country's currency system.

At one time protection of high ranking persons in the government was carried out by the US Marshalls, when needed. Protection is the most visible role of the SS but counterfeiting and monetary crime are easily the things they are most involved in.

In a SS carreer, it is doubtfull that you'll even pull your gun out one time or get into it with a criminal. Thats just the way it is. Their interview and interogation is poor because it's not practiced everyday on real people. 99% of most SS time is spent watching a building that never changes color, This isn't "24". Yea it sounds cooler to be employed by the USSS, but in any type of life or death situation, I'd rather have state or local PD (DC area) there.

it's funny, they have a department that improves the bills to prevent counterfeiting and then they have another department that tries to counterfeit the new money.

What's so fun about dealing with overripe yuppies and their attitudes (traffic stops), or on the reverse, chasing after rapid gangbangers and illegal aliens?

Breaking up domestic disputes could be fun though. Any chance to bring out the pepper spray and taser. I suppose you could just whip that shit out for everything and just make the job a 24-7 taserfest.

90% wow. Pretty interesting number.
How was the polling done?

Can we see the poll results?
What is the error margin?

Thank you!

:) I dont think they are better officers, but they see more action. They are more adapt at handling those things, or more used to handling it, but I would be one to say those officers are less adapt at handling the more deleicate and "customer service" orinented parts of policing :)

omg, I seriosuly am LAUGHING at the crooked--- hahahahahaha :)
I bet those guys are geting rich and living high on the hog, right?
Cause they are SO over paid ;)

I just think that they chose officers that do best with the people they deal with, the people at FairOaks are completely differnt then Mason or MV.
Its almost like night and day, so they put the officers in with the best skills to deal with that situation, or so I would think. :)

and this SIR, doesnt' have a dick :)
nor am i employed by FCPD :)

If you are Asian and apply...you are in. They hire and promote minorities based on ethnic background and not intelligence. Look and their own standards on their website.

Current Chief just promoted his buddies it seems to rank of Major and higher?
