if an 8th grader gets caught with drugs in their locker what punishment should be handed out from ZERO tolerance FCPS?

The punishment for possession of any drug in Fairfax County Public Schools is Consequence Level F, consisting of:

(1) Office referral
(2) Parental notification
(3) Referral to the Hearings Office
(4) 10-day suspension with a recommendation for expulsion
(5) Report of incident to Fairfax County Police.

This discipline is mandatory. Note that there may be legal consequences in addition to the actions taken by the school.

A note to all: The things that you can do in an FCPS school that automatically WILL trigger the above-listed consequences are:

*Possession of drugs
*Intent to distribute drugs
*Possession of an explosive device
*Possession or use of a weapon
*Sexual assault
*Assault with bodily harm on a staff member

Other things may also trigger those consequences, but in the case of the above list, such consequences are mandatory.

Ten day suspension with recommendation for explusion, police called, arrest, and juvenile court.
