Seriously? Paid forecasters (er, meteorologists) and that's the best they can pull out of their collective asses for thirty six f'ing hours out?

WTF?

BTW - it's been a complete bust in Atlanta & the Carolinas so far, and looks to be primarily out to sea by this afternoon...

The range of accumulations for the area can be quite wide.

That's called a "guess" or "pulled from your ass" then, not a forecast.

grow a brain.

forecast of accumulations for a region is essentially a summary of a collection of forecasts for different parts of the viewing area.

Repeat yourself repeat often?

Numbnutz. A "one foot +" "forecast" isn't a forecast. Pull your head out of your ass and open your eyes, 'kay?

The "DC area" stretchs from the coastal plain to the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Of course there will be variations in accumulations.

Take a Geography class.....and actually go!

Loudoun will get 16 inches, we will get 11-13. Gerrymanderer has spoken.

"The "DC area" stretchs from the coastal plain to the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains"

Sure it does. And "forecasting" an area of 10,000 square miles is stupid beyond belief - and allows one to claim anything as a "success".

Here's my July 4th forecast for the Continental United States: Temps range from near freezing to near 100F, while precipitation ranges from heavy to zero.

helluva forecast, huh?
