Police: 31-Year-Old McLean Woman Found Shot to Death in November

Fairfax County police are investigating a pre-Thanksgiving shooting in the Chesterbrook Woods community, McLean Patch has learned.
The shooting occurred at about 7:38 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, in the 5800 block of Bermuda Court, police spokesman Bud Walker told Patch in an email.
Grace Marquardt, 31, was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body, he stated.
The cause and manner of the death remained under investigation as of Wednesday.
Police do not consider this incident to pose any threat to the general public, Walker stated.

It is not unheard of for women to shoot themselves somewhere other then the head. The chest is a common place for a woman to shoot them self. However, if this was a suicide it would not have been a press release done.

Women suck at killing themselves. Who the fuck wants to lay there in pain and "bleed out". I think it is a drama thing, a sort of pathetic cry for attention like the women who kill their babies.

For one she was not an illegal she was an American citizen and her body was not dumped and I dont believe this was suicide either they need to look closer to home as to why she ended up with a bullet in her at all. She had a beautiful son to raise and that will never know his momma. Please dont assume anything if you dont know the facts just keep your opinions to yourself please.

The neighbors are concerned and wondering whether there is an active police investigation underway as there seem to be no details on this death except from this one McLean Patch article. Grace babysat for multiple neighbors in Chesterbrook Woods.

Also, the date of the incident/death in this article is likely inaccurate. After 7:30pm Saturday, Nov 23rd, 5+ police cars, 1 ambulance, 1 firetruck came to this address. One police car parked across Brookside Road (at Bermuda Ct, across from this house), entirely blocking passage on Brookside Rd. The police remained at the house until 1:00am Saturday night (technically Sunday morning).

Likely the reason no further information has been released is that the police have ruled it a suicide.
There's a picture on Grace Marquardt's Google+ page dated November 9, 2013 which shows her, her husband Chris, and their newborn baby.
I'm thinking that Grace in a fit of postpartum depression or postpartum psychosis threatened to kill herself (perhaps because Chris wasn't helping out with the baby) and followed through on the threat.

no suicide isn't the presumption
astray love and family are the top two suspects - who almost always do somethign to make it look like a suicide. you know another problem in parliamentary style governments is crime families and oustings.
i hear women are much less likely to die by gunshot though i'm unsure that applies to foreign women or how much so. only a rumor to me.

she was 21 not 31. She did not kill herself. The police report is not yet finalized. She was a wonderful wife and mother, daughter, friend, hard working college student, and loved life. She is sorely missed everyday. But her beauty and sweet character live on in her son....

I agree with Anonymous also she was a good girl and I am sure this is going to get resolved here pretty quickly. She was a wonderful person and had alot to live for this is NOT a suicide. Look at the husband as he is the likely source knowing both of these individuals personally. The police should be looking for people that knew him before he moved to VA that know him better than anyone could from there! I only wish her parents would have questioned how quickly their relationship was moving forward and talked to people before allowing her to marry him. I am deeply saddened by what has happened here and for her son even though I know he will be well taken care of and loved.
