Make sure you stock up your bread, milk, TP, b/c we are having a blizzard tomorrow. Ice and sleet are expected, so be ready for lots of car crashes and other fun stuff.

FWIW, the best place for local weather news is The Capital Weather Gang blog. It's on the Post's website and run by a bunch meteorologists. It's really the best local weather coverage for the area.

If you DON'T know what the word means, do not use it. Especially do not use it in a post whose only intention is to monger fear.

A "Blizzard" is defined in metorological terms, as 3 hours or more
--Sustained wind or frequent gusts of wind 35 mph or greater AND
-- Alot of falling snow reducing visibility to 1/4 mile or less.

And the best place for weather is www.noaa.gov.

Thank you for our prompt revision of your post KOT.

Radiophile, if you read my post, and considered previous thread that have existed on this board re: snow, you would easily detect the humor and sarcasm in my post. As you know what the term blizzard really means, you can see that my post contradicts itself, first by calling it a blizzard and then saying ice and sleet- no mention of snow or wind.

In addition, the bread, milk, TP are clear giveaways.

Radiophile,
I think Truckin' was Fuckin' here.

But, here's what I do when the forecast is for 3 to 5 flakes of snow. I go to the store, get all the essentials, batteries, milk, bread, wine, but I make sure I throw in alot of non-essentials, wrapping paper, olive oil, windex, sponge mop, etc. Then, at check out, when everyone is talking about the impending storm, I say, "What storm."

I think it was in a thread about unlocking cellphones from back in 06-07, I just remember that thread being a months-long goofy flamewar between Inka, YA, versus the rest of the board.

I don't understand these people who go to the grocery store when there's a forecast of snow. Do they not normally have a few days worth of food in the house?

As we've been reminded over and over again, this is the south.

Southerners don't do well with winter weather. I suppose they believe they are going to be stuck inside their homes until March or April when the authorities come and dig them out.

Even if they didn't have a few days worth of food, how many people live so far away from a store that they couldn't walk to one if they really were about to starve to death?
