I know you're not really a parent of a Great Falls Elementary student, or you'd know EXACTLY why Mr. Lonnett's contract was not renewed this year.
All I will say here is that he was given TWO years to prove he was able to do the job.

You certainly sound like a REAL Great Falls parent. I pity the staff that has to coddle your little snowflakes.
Mr. Lonnett was a standout educator, a well liked Assistant Principal and a mentor to education majors at George Mason prior to being named Principal at GFES.
The GFES staff and students loved Mr. Lonnet. The school boasts strong test scores and is ranked one of the top performing schools within FCPS and the state. This hardly seems like statistics that should cause concern.
It was the self-righteous, demanding, and unreasonable parents that led to his exit. Trying to manage the ridiculous Japanese Immersion Program and staffing it with qualified teachers is also no walk in the park. I hope Mr. Lonnett stays in education and can lend his talents to a school where parents can appreciate his positivity and genuine concern for students.
GFES got stuck with the Japanese Immersion Program because it was late applying for the languages art years ago. The program is dead. No one can take Japanese later on in the pyramid since GFES is the only one. Kill the program and send the pompous parents packing. He was a great principal. A few whining stay at home yentas
Great Falls (the community not the school), is the next Clifton. As soon as the water table is polluted enough they will either bring in municipal waste and water or close the school. All "immersion" programs at the elementary level should be scrapped and for the cost savings.
- The ones behind the gates of the 5 - 10 acre, $6M estate. These people send their kids to private schools and could give a shit about GFES or any other public service from FFX, with the exception of the roads and traffic.
- The other (the majority) owns the $1.8M tract mansion and can barely afford to live there, took out a HELOC to pay the 80K to get into Riverbend, sends their kids to Langley and onwards to JMU (with loans), and cares very much about the reputation (but not the reality) of GFES, CMS, and Langley. These are also the very large number of people from 22066 that were on Ashley Madison. Pity the FCPS teacher or admin that gets between them and their prestigious community and children.

Yes, but Great Falls has the best mansions in the area. Love me a drive in GF just to gawk at the houses. F public schools if you have money like that.

Mr. Lonnett is still with FCPS as the new Principal of Hutchison Elementary School. Much different demographic profile than GFES. Best of luck at Hutchison Mr. Lonnett!
