Accident report amendment
Posted by: FFXGuy ()

I've gotten into an accident last saturday night. I had my children in the car. This young lady must've been drunk she made a left (from opposite direction) when I was going straight on green. She hit the front driver side. she immediately ran over and asked if we were ok she was sorry she was trying to make the yellow light. When police investigator arrived she immediately started to cry and obviously changed her version of the story saying she had the left arrow and right of way. The male officer probably didn't even talk to me for 5 minutes he spent all his time talking to the lady and gave me a ticket. There were no witnesses at the time except one person who basically ran away when I asked him to be the witness (probably suspended license).. She had no one inside her car. I had 5 others in mine. How can this officer just listen to one person and make assumption that I was running the red light without asking anyone else in my car? What can I do? Can this be amended? I am thinking about contacting the media about this officer conduct? When the lady's family arrived they were hugging and consoling and when my family arrived they were told to stay away from the scene.????

Call your insurance company and let them deal with it. Show up for court and tell your side of the story.

If she was drunk the officer would've picked up on it. Your story's already starting to have holes, even on here.

I didn't say she WAS drunk. She definitely was not in her right mind to make a left when a van was coming from the opposite side.

Why are you surprised that a policeman could just pick a side and charge you when he (supposedly) should be charging the other party?
Are cops perfect? No.
Are they prone to lobbying? Yes.
Are they better at detecting lies than other people? Probably not, though I'm sure they think they are, which makes the problem worse.
Do cops have wide discretion on whom to charge? Yes.
Is there anything you can do to change this? No.

Bring your witnesses to court and if they all say you had the green light, the charges will likely be dropped.

Check and see if there are red light cameras at that intersection.

None within the boundaries of Fairfax County, only maybe in Fairfax City.

What I was surprised about was how bluntly he ignored me while I had children in the car. I googled him and he does not have very good reputation as a FFX county cop. Maybe it was just a bad night for be because he decided to respond!

This is Fairfax Underground. You're allowed to use the cop's name, here.

Just don't post his home address. That's frowned upon because it creates heat for Cary.

Contact the media? Because your red light accident and hurt feelings are real news worthy. Because the local Washington/NOVA area will tune in to see this ratings grabber.

TONIGHT AT 1100, A local man is butthurt because he does not like the way the Police did their job. He feels slighted and his little feelings are hurt.

Pat Collins are you hearing this guy?

File a complaint against him with IA.

Attend a BOS meeting and speak to them about the incident.

Create a petition on Change.org to get Obama involved.

File a Civil Rights lawsuit.

Yes by all means give us his name, so we can all google it and see for ourselves this not very good reputation.

That list is a little misleading. They seem to be confusing and mixing intersection cameras, which are used by VDOT to monitor heavily travelled intersections, and red light cameras, which would be powered and used by the county... if their red light camera program was still active (it's not). None of those cameras listed, except the ones in Fairfax City, are actively citing traffic infractions.

But, I'm sure the intersection cameras could still be useful to him. He'd just have to ask VDOT for the recordings, to which I'm sure they'd provide.

You were cited because you suck at telling stories.

Have your lawyer search out the other ladies past tickets. There is a good chance she has some if she drives like you claim.

He could probably do it himself, but getting a lawyer is a good idea. Hell, maybe he might even have a case for her to pay his legal fees.

Thanks for some helpful suggestions couple of you.. I've contacted the police supervisor and some lawyers. The supervisor doesn't believe the report to be truthful.

I guess some of the "helpful" posters here are abused or bullied as children. Serious psychological problem.. Perhaps it's not too late to get your head checked out. OR maybe just live your lives as the miserable-selves.
