Well, when you're a car as old as I am...you gotta' keep me clean or I rust. It's my fucking money and I'll wash my car when and where I please. This is NOVA and everyone knows my priorities are more important than yours. What kind of fucking asshole gets within five fucking miles of a fucking carwash in NOVA when they have zero interest in getting their fucking car washed? You know shit's gonna' be busy and yet, you still fucking drove by there? Fail, man. Fucking fail.

Either do your less important shit near there on another date and time or stop bitching about the traffic tie-ups. Either way, there are zero fucks given here for what you think you're fucking entitled to!

At what point do you wash your car? The longer salt sticks to the car more corrosion. Wake up numb nuts

Good day to hose it down, yourself. Carwashes recycle the water, hence recycled salt.
With the hose you can get into the knooks and crannies
Or
Drive it after it rains awhile tomorrow night.

Fail. We do use recycled water but it goes through a triple-filtration and double-distillation process before it's used on the next car. We then sell the extracted salt back to VDOT.

Most of you lesbians don't maintain your car and trade it in when the upholstery is out of fashion.

Washing the car is only going to get the salt off of the paint. If you spray the underneath of the car, a lot of the salt is going to get pushed by the water into little cracks and seems where the unibody is welded together. If you don't want your car to rust, do not drive it in salt. You really can't wash it off.

Do you kiss and caress your car too? Hosing a car's underneath dilutes and removes the salt.

Like somebody mentioned, car washes recycle the water. Sure, they may filter/clean it up a bit, but I quarantee you they don't desalinate it.

Desalination is a complex and expensive process. No car wash would pay for the equipment, let alone employ someone with the brains to operate it.

Translation: They are washing your car with salt water.

At least it is dissolved in water that is wiped off so no more salt.

from one of the manufacturer sites

Total water usage is 50 gallons. For wash quality, some of the wash functions need to be either fresh or spot-free water — six gallons fresh water for the drying-agent-rinse pass, six gallons for the spot-free final-rinse pass, two gallons fresh water to mix with the concentrated soap, which leaves 36 gallons that can be recycled water.

Turtle Wax makes a Wash and Shine product where you just need about a gallon to two of water and a scrub mitt and towels. A rinse isn't required and you just dry your vehicle off. This won't get rid of the salt on the underbody, nor will it ensure you are not using salty water for the wash process, but it is at least effective as the local car wash. $9.00 and 3 hour later, your car is clean by the car wash. $1.50 worth of the Turtle Wax product, 2 gallons of water and 15 minutes later you are done.

Turtle zip wax gets my vote, and pre-washing it in the rain brings out that extra shine.

I just throw a sprinkler like you use in your yard under the car. Move it around a few times and all the salt is pretty much gone
