McLean Bible Church

Can anyone share their experience with the McLean bible church? Does this Church have a cult like atmosphere to it?

I have a friend who has been attending this church and now is acting very different and extremely religious than before. For example constantly pushing his beliefs on others, peer pressuring them, and just changed totally as a person.

If anyone could share some honest unbiased feedback I would appreciate it.

It's a cult, I know many individuals who go there and I can tell you they push their beliefs and look down on others who don't believe what they do.

I'm sure members of that church are gonna hop on this thread and defend themselves like they've in the past

First off, in order to be a member, you have to undergo a "test". They put you in one of their basement "apartments" for exactly ten days, no light, no food, tainted water. All the while they are piping in religious diatribe brainwashing you into thinking that God will save you in the end. Usually you are a believer when you emerge. Otherwise, ten more days of training. Sound familiar?

Very familiar. The DNC does something very similar to produce Obama worshippers from their political re-education camps.

MBC is a great church if you want to know what God expects from you and how to reconnect with Him. The haters here have never been and their biggest beef with the church, other than rubbing against their hedonistic behavior, is the traffic jams. Go and find out for yourself. Why would you think you'll get any non-troll answer here?

I know someone who took a 360 change and became super religious. Good for them, but the changes affected all the people around the person like family and friends. The person was almost referring people and trying to recruit as if they were gonna get a bonus or something like at work lol.

What bullshit. Churches are nothing but leeches that don't pay taxes and the rest of us have to subsidize your bigoted belief system. Hypocrites.

Jesus-loving churches do not pay taxes.

Jesus supposedly was a carpenter.

I am a carpenter.

I only accept cash.

Cash rules everything around me. Cream, get the money. Dollar, dollar bill y'all.

If you crave forcible sodomy, one of the founders of the Fairfax Harvest Bible Chapel defines its practice. It got him some prison time, don't make the same mistake.

For Pete's sake, the above comments are ridiculous. Of course its not a cult. Its a church. Its a church that teaches that the Bible is the inspired word of God and that man is saved by believing Jesus Christ and Christ alone, by His grace.

When you become "born again" (See Gospel of John) you do change. On the inside. Its hard to explain to people who have not felt this internal change. And you want to share your newfound peace and happiness with others. This, apparently, makes you a kook.

If you are truly a believer, you also feel compelled to share your faith with others, both for others' sakes as well as the directive Christ gave us to spread His word. You share because you care about people - not because you've been brainwashed by evil Christians.

People who are not "religous" mock this all the time. (I look forward to further mocking on this thread.) However, I often wonder if people think people like me and my family (we LOVE McLean Bible) are kooks because Biblical truths are somewhat inconvenient to their lifestyle. People who don't believe in being saved by grace think we are all cultists. Its sad, really.

John B., I hope you'll come to MBC some weekend. It a lot of fun, and very uplifiting week and after week.

Exactly. Every church or religion is a cult in its own way. Some weirder than others, but all sucking at the teat of government subsidy in this country. What a scam religion is. Don't people think this through? First, god created the heavens and the earth in 6 days, but he always seems to be short of cash. So people give the money to their religion, and what do they get in return? They'll find out after they die. Why do otherwise intelligent people believe this crap? Because they have been brainwashed from a very early age. What a terrible thing to do to children.

Your view of Christian doctrine is limited to say the least.

Billy Bob, you haven't the faintest idea what you are talking about. Perhaps you should listen to Lon's testimony about how he went from Judaism and drugs to Christ. Then at least you could spew your ignorant, intolerant vitriol with some background knowlege.

I went to the Church a few times but is way too far to drive to each Sunday. It is not strict like a Catholic Mass. They had good music with a band and singers. The pastor's speech was funny and good. There is a money collection like every other church but they don't require you to give anything. You don't need to join the church. You can walk in there every Sunday, sit down, and listen to the service. You don't need to talk to anybody and nobody is going to approach you. Try it yourself. It is not a holy roller service either.

Is MBC total dependent on Lon perpetuating its existence? If Lon died tomorrow what would happen to congregation?

I have been. It is cult-like. But there was a hot chick doing the sign language thing with the band. Mesmerizing. And the young women sitting in the row next to me were dressed like sluts in miniskirts and covered in glitter. So, there was that.

The NFL is tax exempt. Can you believe that shit? A bunch of nigger faggots running around in tights for their white slave masters getting paid millions. Then they promote heavy drinking during the game with hot chicks in the commercials which leads people like Gerrytard to believe if he drinks enough shit bud light he's going to get a chick. We all know that will never happen.

While the league is tax exempt, rest assured that the teams pay taxes (although certain municipalities give sweetheart deals on property taxes at least).

What made it cult-like?

Heard a comedian the other day talking about a recent pope...he is up for sainthood, 'cause apparently he had something like 5 "miracles".

According to the comedian, he died of a urinary tract infection.

Comedian said he could make "miracles" yet had less magical powers than cranberry juice.

LOFL.

noooo your wrong. they called themselves methodists but were sued for usign the name without any affiliation with the central church

later it was announced due to low parishonership (all somehow missing)

that the asians running the church were selling it in a multi-million dollar land deal. the judge said, ok, fine

you need to keep up on recent events. finding churches is like a moving target these days

If you believe in What Jesus Did for each of us, Mclean Bible Church is great. If you don't know, it's also a great place to start. Becoming a Christian is an amazing experience and it changes your life. Judge for yourself, go to website and watch the sermons.

That's funny because what you are saying is what you have heard "preached" to you on the athiest sites. Very funny that you feel superior and claim to have no religion yet are holding awfully tight to this "belief" of yours.

Did you ever meet this fellow Jesus?

Or, are you going on what a 2000 year old books says, and what others tell you to believe?

Is it not possible to be a good person and have a good life without believing in what this book says?

Or, are you motivated to be a good person so you can go to heaven like that book says, and tell others what a great life you've found by believing in what was written in this 2000 year old book?

If so, that might appear to be rather shallow to some folks.

Not a...you know the rest.
