I saw this on Craigslist and thought Fairfax Underground would like this information:

Happy New year from the Citizen's DWI patrol. In the first eight months of this year 1,975 people were arrested in Fairfax County for DWI. This New Years Eve the Northern Virginia Citizen's DWI patrol will be watching area eating & drinking establishments for those that insist on driving intoxicated. If you are observed by one of our 72 volunteers on New Years Eve driving off after consuming alcohol you will be followed. The volunteer will call the police and follow you until they get there. Special attention will focus on establishments known to continue service to intoxicated persons.

Take a cab & have a safe night, or you might be our next target.

so if you are going to drink and drive, remember to have a gun in the glove compartment in case somebody is following you.

i think what the citizen's are doing is very helpful but unless i read that last statement wrong, it sounds like the citizens might get atively involved in stopping someone?
i would warn you not to get too involved in inspecting people or their cars. no one has to stop for you or talk to you and drunk people can act very irrationally. just get the police to you and let them do the investigating; don't jeapordize your own safety unless the county's paying you to do it.

All you have to do is get yourself and the keys out of the car. If the police don't observe you driving they cant do sh1t for a DWI when called by the DWI Patrol, if they even exist.

Not true, common misconception. An officer doesn't have to be a witness to a crime for a prosecutor to bring charges if there are other witnesses. In fact most felony indictments are not brought by witness testimony of an officer... it is usually a victim or some other witness.

And think about what you are saying... officers can conduct a FST any time, anywhere. That's why the grandiose checkpoints can check everyone that goes through.

So if there is a witness that you were driving moments before an officer gives a FST then DWI can be brought.

I did not count the ones arrested 12/31/2007 because the good people at FCDWIP would most likely not have anything to do with it, since most people leaving a bar probably would not do it before midnight.

And your thinking cap must be at the cleaners. While you counted 10 on your list, I counted 8 on your list. Unless four people, two of which had the same name, address and age as the other two, were each arrested for DWI the same night.

So add my 14 and your 8 and you come with 22. One less then the claimed number the FCDWIP claim to have helped get.

Yes it is true, there are a lot of snitches out there. If you are smart you know how to tell when someone is following you. When I think I am being followed I jump on the high way, wait for the right moment, floor the accelerator, jump on a back road, break a u turn, cut through residential areas, kill some time, smoke a cig, go to 7 11, whatever I gotta do. It helps to keep a road map. So what if you sped to get away from snitch. If the man don't catch you it's all good. Your word against his, what evidence do they have if they can't find you?
Best thing to do is get a ride if you can't drive. It's ok to get drunk as fuck, as long as you do it responsibly. Personally I prefer a 18 pack of Heineken in the comfort of my own home. That's the best way to do it.

The variables to satisfy a "citizen's arrest" in Virginia are quite cumbersome so i reccomend you don't do it. Also, If the arestee is dismisssed, you can get your a$$ sued.

You drive home and some douche bus patrol wanna-be follows you home and calls the police. When the police officer finally does show up you're sound asleep in bed.

Even if you did answer the door there's no way to prove that you weren't under the legal limit on your way home and then drank more when you got home, putting you over the legal limit.
