No.

The difference between the government bailing out banks and automakers and bailing out retailers is that the impact on the economy would be catastrophic if the banking industry or auto industry failed. A few retailers going out of business isn't, in the end, going to jeopardize the integrity of the economy.

I wasn't aware that Piercing Pagoda had a huge union that contributes to political campaigns. I guess if you say so I'll believe it and agree that not saving this retail behemoth is an outrage.

Here's why the following are closing...

Circuit City stores... Shitty concept that didn't work for Service Merchandise but these idiots kept it anyway.

Ann Taylor- Chick store. Don't know.

Lane Bryant,, Fashion Bug ,and Catherine's to close 150 store
nationwide - All I know about Fashion Bug is my sisters shopped their in the 70s. The clothes sucked then.

Eddie Bauer - Throw an Eddie Bauer logo on a $20 pair of Khakis and charge $40. Recipe for disaster.

Cache - Never heard of them.

Talbots - Where will all the alcoholic 50-year-old divorcees shop now?

J. Jill - Never heard of them.

GAP - When I think of The GAP, I think of Bill Clinton's semen. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Footlocker - Dick's Sporting Goods.

Levitz - Crappy furniture with a Jewish sounding name. Shocker that one is going out of business.

Bombay - WTF was the deal with this store in the first place? Pier 1 for snobs.

Zales - Now only 37 jewelry stores in my local mall.

Whitehall - Never heard of it.

Piercing Pagoda - The name pretty much says it all.

Disney - Buy the same Disney crap you can get at Wal-Mart, but with a 50 percent mark-up.

Home Depot - Lowes is simply better.

Macys - Acquired a bunch of crappy Hecht's stores that should have been closed down to begin with.

Linens and Things - Should have been called Crap and Shit.

Movie Galley - Good. Hopefully Hollywood Video and Blockbuster aren't far behind.

Pacific Sunware - The fucker constituted 50 extra steps I had to take between Mrs. Fields and Game Stop. Good riddance.

Pep Boys - Manny, Mo and Jack don't know Jack Shit, apparently.

Sprint/ Nextel - Sprint into business obscurity.

JC Penney - A store without a customer base.

Ethan Allen - Ethan Allen was founded when people kept the same furniture for a lifetime. People change furniture every 5 to 10 years. You aren't going to pay $4K for a coach that won't be around in 10 years.

Wilson Leather - Shitty quality.

Sharper Image - A great place to buy expensive shit that ends up in the bottom of your closet after three weeks.

K B Toys - Nothing like walking through a mall with a bunch Elmo shit in a bag. That's what Amazon.com is for.

Loews - Obviously some people have made out checks to Loews instead of Lowes.

Dillard's - Name sounds too close to Dildo. Macy's without the sales.
