Sally Thomas woke up shortly before 11 p.m. April 9 in her home in the 10000 block of Pine Street in Oakton after hearing a strange noise. She said she thought her light bulbs were exploding, but when she stepped into her living room, her sliding glass door shattered and three bullets whizzed through.

A Fairfax County woman found herself ducking for cover after bullets came flying through her sliding glass door and into her home in Oakton. (Published Wednesday, Apr 15, 2015)

As she called 911, Thomas heard two more shots.

Police investigated the incident and confirmed that Thomas’ neighbors and their friend were responsible for the shooting.

Fairfax residents Drew Prout, Daniel Lee Sparks and Jeffrey Fine, all in their early 30s, were charged with shooting at an occupied dwelling and reckless handling of a firearm. Additionally, Fine was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
