703 Roller Girls is the newest roller derby league in Northern Virginia. 703RG is a women's only league skating under WFTDA rules.

703RG is now recruiting skaters & referees.
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! And NO try outs.

Skaters must be female and at least 18 years old. Referees may be male or female and 18 years or older.

Full gear is required!
Quad skates (referees are allowed to use roller blades, but derby girls must skate on roller skates), a helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, and a mouth guard.

It works really well and looks like most of the team could use it.

WARNING: Stay away from this "league."

Its run by a spoiled brat (Mauled Tease? - Jenn if you'd prefer) who uses it to go on power trips over the unsuspecting. It is basically her own vanity project and not representative of the derby community as a whole. In fact, she has been kicked off or banned from the local legitimate clubs because of her lies, relational aggression, and the fact that she wildly overplays her below-average experience and skills. To top it off, she hides the "league" finances.

I'm not sure how many members this "league" has now, but 10 times as many have left. She is always recruiting because she can't keep enough players to form a single team, much less a league.

But don't worry ladies, there are options. Check out 540, NoVA, Freestate, and Battlefield. These are real leagues - supportive derby without drama and expertly coached.

Maybe, but these girls should know what they are signing up for.

From my experience, the skaters and ex-skaters from 703 are a good group. Their worthless founder, Jenn aka Maul Tease, is just a big cluster fuck on so many levels. She ruins the whole experience through petty undermining, projecting her own insecurities onto others, and general narcissistic stupidity.

Perhaps some people like that kinda thing, but if you are not, steer clear.

Ive always wanted to try roller derby! Honestly, I would be scared to try out and see that try outs aren't required, but wonder if physically I'd be crushed.

Do you have to be butch/brawny/über aggressive? Does roller derby ever take slim, petite ladies? I'm serious! I'm 5'5" and 119 lbs and small framed.

You don't have to be butch, but more people would attend if you looked like this!

Ha...I agree with the previous wannabes...Jen, Jenni, Maul Tease, is a self-centered liar. Can she be a liar if she believes her own lies? Anyway, I was part of the "league" for a while.

She is NOT what derby is about...check out all other options in the area...

The relational agression comment is true. She acts like the worst tv drama stereotype of a high school clique leader, always trying to play favorites and makes 'sweet bitch' comments about people when they aren't there (usually bigoted). When she misses a practice, she will get paranoid that everyone enjoyed themselves when she wasn't there and become convinced that the ladies are conspiring against her. And don't even think about doing something outside of practice with someone else you meet through "her league."

It is mildly distubing, yet quite entertaining to watch her act like a petulant child when someone disagrees with her too. You will be bombarded with crazy tirade emails and texts when you check them. "Ain't nobody going to disrespect her like that."

Previous poster was also correct about her having burned bridges with other leagues in the area. She used to be called "Ann Grr Secs" or something. Changed her name when she started this league. Everyone knows who she is though.

Also true that she does not share financial expenses, always complains about money and having to support "lazy" derby girl wannabes.

Warning: DO NOT pay anything for her i.e. insurance, website, etc...DO NOT pre pay your dues...she will find a reason (usually disrespect) to "kick" you off the league with no refund. Then show up to next practice bragging about her groupon deals for plastic surgery, botox injections, lazer treatment of her hoohah...

Try it. Just like other sports, speed trumps size. Some of the best Jammers in derby are your size.

As others have said...yes, try it...just don't try it with this "league" check out other options in the area. Also try to see it in person first. DC Rollergirls has a bout coming up on February 1st.

Most of the "females" on their site are pretty fucking disgusting. Only one or two I'd throw my dick at.

Can we get a pic of this chick? Sounds like an easy bang, the lasered hoohah is a plus too.

what's wrong with a laser treated hoohah? It's a hit in any man's league.

And it ends! 703 Roller Girls is gone! Just as many of you wrote, its founder is a certifiable loon! Just as many of you predicted, it imploded thanks to her unfounded, self-righteous, paranoid vanity. She even posted a pathetic "703 is sad to lose our coach and leader, Maul Tease" about herself.

Just remember former 703 girls, there are real leagues, with real coaches out there. Don't believe the bullshit she said about them. Give them a try, the community is aware of what you've been through.

I heard the girls from her fuckhole of a league have formed a new rec league FairFox Roller Derby or some shit. Maybe they've learned from her fuck-ups and won't make something ugly.
