The majority of people who have opinions on the Springfield area are often clouted by some of the more notorious lower income sections concurrent to the pleasant middle and upper middle class households, just over the bridge west of St. Bernadettes.

West Springfield (Hillside, Cardinal Forest, Greeley, OKM Estates) is truly the best place to live in FFX county, for your money and convenience. Of course at times it is a traffic snarled mess, but trying to find non-congested areas in this region are few and far between. I mean, Id rather pay taxes in this district, than shall we say, McLean or Falls Church (both of which, as well as the North County area in general, receive fewer if not equitable services by most metrics).

Yes, it is a diverse area. That being said, most of the immigrants I encounter in West Springfield are almost overwhelmingly proud to be American, and support the B.O.R. and less government intrusion. Many neighborhoods in WS are old, however, well-maintained with mature tree growth and have higher proportions of original ownership than neighboring communities. Not to mention abundant and accessible recreation, unless youre looking for something very specific.

The new STC ("Town Center" name denoting future plans for adjacent high rises) is raising property values and slowly (but surely) driving undesirables to the South and West of the area. It is also a final contender for the relocation of the FBI HQ, and sure deal for Springfield's future. Not to mention, we'll have a Dave & Busters !!!!

West Springfield is up-and-coming, as well as the Greater Springfield area itself, so you haters can slow your roll

A day late and a penny short. Springfield has had many chances to become something more than a speed bump for the interchange. Sure, developers will try to build more crap and your property value might increase a couple of cents but with the same bullshit around the region who cares? In all honesty Springfield was a nice quaint comunity before the mall and all the fixin's was built over the last forty years. And it's usually the so called upper class that screw things up to begin with. Funny thing about classes is everyone dies anyway. Some with a stick up their ass.

I dispute/agree with this. Springfield was far better before and around the opening of the mall. But we cannot live in the past, and better that we experience an economic boom than zoning stagnation, and death by taxation.

West springfield is all the way out by braddock. It has as much to do with the mall and dave and busters as does edsall road.

I can't tell if your photos are posted as a joke or not. What's so special about that strip shopping center? In most other parts of the country, unless located in a desirable city, townhouses are for lower income families.

Giving credit where credit is due, West Springfield has nicer townhouses than most other parts of the county. The above photos showcase this nicely. WS SFH are pretty ordinary. Lots of old aluminum and vinyl siding.no No charm.

Mostly brick and mortar for SFHs here, but of course builder grade vinyl is seen. The strip is just a view of the surrounding businesses. The Mom and Pop shops here are fantastic, and the major chains are present as well

You must be new to the area. The whole northern va area IS diverse. A white rich blonde can have much less class and less manners than your fresh off the boat immigrant in this area. Excuses excuses.
