Founding Farmers opens Feb 5ht in Tysons area.

Tysons II Development at 1800 Tysons Boulevard

Lots of good food for a fairly decent price, nice to have something a bit different coming to Fairfax.

The one downtown (20th and Pennsylvania, NW) is quite popular. Probably a Tysons location will do very well also, though it doesn't seem it will have any natural foot traffic passing by.

That spot in Tysons does get a lot of foot traffic actually. That station sees around 5000 people per day and most work in the offices on the north side of 123.

All you need to know about this place is found in the quote from their website below...

"We strive to source the best products seasonally and regionally whenever possible, and our meals are prepared with the utmost care and attention by our talented chefs and kitchen staff. “Strive” is an important word, because in today’s world and today’s economy, it isn’t always possible to source or buy the ideal products."

What this means is that they use the word "farmers" in their name to create the imagery of a "green", healthy, environmentally friendly, "think local", "I'm a liberal and I shop farmers markets", type of vibe, but just fill you up with the same pesticide, antibiotic and growth hormone shit you get at any Applebee's.

All the impressionable, bleeding heart Prius drivers and/or hipster folk will eat this shit up.

Meh. Menu looks OK. It appears to be heavy on comfort food with a few additional items scattered in here or there. I prefer to make my comfort food at home, but I'm sure some people who can't/won't do that will find the place appealing.

Yes, comfort foot with BIG portions. Get a box to take the extra home, do not try to eat is all at the table.

Tysons is already sold out for Valentines day and they are not even open yet so it is already quite popular and they have not served a meal yet at the new location.

There will be plenty of lunchtime business, not sure how popular weekday dinner business will be initially, but it will grow.

Founding Farmers is somewhat a specialty restraint that has a decent following.

Smart location choice, the Rockville location is also located in an office bulding in an growing area and it is quite busy most of the time.

They have 2 restaurants downtown (the other is called Farmers Fishers Bakers). Absolutely overrated, and service is bad. What is good about it is the fried chicken though.

They lost me on this: I am a huge deviled eggs fan. I ordered them as an appetizer, and in their insane effort to put a 'new twist' on classics, I got halves of a hard boiled egg, yolk out, and instead of the creamy yellow goodness they put egg salad. What the absolute fuck?

The big appeal is some local ingredients? I can get that out of my garden in my backyard. as for meat there are plenty of places that sell local cuts. Its a novelty restaurant in my opinion.

You can buy a carbon offset privately for as little as 1500 dollars and to my knowledge their is no regulation when making that claim. Great marketing.

they're building some kind of new town center across from there so it will probably get a bunch foot traffic once that opens

Tysons Corner is easily the busiest of the four Silver Line stations at Tysons, but that difference comes from shoppers, not office workers, and the station is oriented toward Tysons I while the now open Founding Farmers is at the SE corner of the Galleria, where it is essentially surrounded by parking lots. The office buildings you speak of are not as yet located nearby.

Even in terms of office workers, those who would be entering the system at peak rush, Tysons metro is still the most used station in Tysons

From your link...

Tysons Corner
This station has perhaps the most unique ridership pattern, with PM Peak ridership dwarfing all other time periods, and evening ridership higher than even AM Peak. This station is located adjacent to two of the region’s largest shopping malls, and the ridership likely reflects both shoppers and retail employees using the station heavily throughout the day.

That is the unique part of the ridership, but beyond that, look at the PM rush entries. Rush hour entries rising like that shows that yes, there is a lot of mall employees/shoppers, but also plenty of office workers. Theres a bunch of high rise corporate offices right there. Dozens of people heading up the hill to those offices in the mornings at 8am before the malls are even open. Feel free to stake it out yourself.

Locally sourced products doesn't make it healthy. Looks like they got your unrefined dumbass to believe it though.

If your looking for lower calories with big taste, go across the street to Seasons 52.

Is it like better than the 40 other stores this national chain operates? Can I count on not finding any Prius-driving hipsters there, you miserable dumbshit?

For the most part you see luxury sedans around Tysons, not Prius, but it doesn't explain why you are so angry towards prius drivers. It's the free market fag, if people want to drive lower gas consuming vehicles thats their choice, just like you can drive you penis enlarger, I mean SUV.

Luxury sedans, eh? Like a Honda Civic?

Talk to your friend, Que. He's the one who hates Prius-driving hipsters.

You're hoot! What happens to women who drive SUVs? Maybe ask Que. I bet HE knows. But otherwise, I am left to gather that "Seasons 52" is really just another stamped-out copy of the business model of some non-descript national chain, Think I'll just go with "Founding Farmers" in that light.
