Holy fuck, do I feel sorry for the suckers who have to drive home to Maryland every weeknight.

I work in Ashburn and live in Mclean. As I fly by the onramps to I495 N on my way to the 123 exit, I wonder how it's humanly possible to deal with completely stopped traffic all the way to the 270 split.

How can you expose yourself to that kind of bullshit day in and day out? I have a manual transmission and have to think that anyone who takes the beltway on a week night would be hating their lives if they had a stickshift.

It is an holy hell that is for sure. I work with a guy who has been commuting from Rockville to Dulles for the last 20 years. He suffers, but I guess he thinks it's worth it. Everyone has their own reasons.

Save it till you're old enough to drive a car, Enzo. And anyone who has actually had a standard transmission would know that shifting just comes naturally. It's like breathing. You don't sit there saying, oh no, now I have to BREATHE again...

my first new car was an accord 5 speed. I drove 23k a year and burned through clutches at about every 40-50k. Stop and go around the beltway sucks but with manual it was a regular horror show
