You're wrong, most of the Cinema patrons are white and some latinos and blacks..... I didn't see any ghetto trash there. I've been there 5 times already....

Only poor people go to a movie theater, unless its the iMax at the Air & Space Museum at Dulles.

Most normal middle class and up people have home theaters these days with 60" and larger screens with full Dolby digital sound systems. Pay $8.99 a month (less than the price of a single movie at the theater) for Netflix and you're set.

Why anybody would pay to sit in a room with a bunch of questionable strangers probably packing a gun and annoying disrespectful teenagers loaded with germs is beyond me.

Bulls Eye, Alamo is pretty sweet. I DO make an exception for that place.

Went and had an incredible experience. Sound was great. Seats were great. Saw "Nightcrawler". Crowd seemed pretty middle of the road to me. I'm sure they are taking business away from Kingstowne.

You forgot to mention that the seats are big reclining leather, and the screens are big even in the smaller auditoriums. Also there is a bar with decent selection of beers.

And if you have to get up during the movie you don't have to ask people to move to get by them. The space in front of each row is like another aisle.

I have never been to a nicer theater.

Don't think they care if they take business away from Kingstowne since they're both the same company--Regal.

I like the fact that no one (OK, now me) has thought it significant enough to correct the OP, noting that the theater is at the Springfield Town Center, not Springfield Mall.

For me it's Springfield Mall for now, the second phase will be finished by 2020 I think and then it will be a Town Center.

I think they do care about it because checking the movie listings in this weekend's paper, I saw none of the same movies were playing at both facilities. Makes sense. Down the road when Regal's contract to operate the Kingstowne theater expires, who knows what happens. I suppose it's not unprecedented to have two facilities very close together (look at Macy's in Fair Oaks Mall after they changed the signs on Hecht's), but it would seem odd for them to do so. I guess if they can run different movies at each one it solves the problem.

So I was at the original Springfield Mall opening waaaay back when. It was a great addition, as Franconia Road was basically a two lane dirt road. We had Franconia Elementary school, Burger Chef (Yum) and the hardware store which is now Paradisio. My pops used to go there and he would let us buy some candy that was behind the counter. That was basically it. It's cool to see the new Springield Mall...yes, it will always be Springfield Mall. I hope the restaurants stay open, we really need to bring this area up to date.
