Do any of you all remember a disc jockey in the area by the name of Davy Jones?

I don't remember him, but he evidently used to do nights on WPGC.

His name is Paul Bicknell; he may well be the nastiest person ever. He briefly had about fourteen fake names on DCRTV, and, when he was caught, pretty much went hummina-hummina. Now, he frequently shows upon DCRTV ripping everyone in sight who dares suggest that he's not a broadcasting legend, and that his good old days are LONG past. Bad guy.

FairfaxLifer: Yes. I've been out of radio for ten years, which (given the industry's status right now) ranks as the best decision I ever made, which is not to say I don't miss it, because I do. I've talked to Paul Bicknell five or six times in my life, and the only time he was remotely pleasant was when he wanted something. You can divide the local radio yak re: Bicknell into two categories: the guys who are roughly his age, who will defend him, and everybody younger than him, who can't stand him.

That would be an exaggeration on my part -- he had at least three names, which he was sock-puppeting to support his positions. I believe the main sock puppet was "Granny" or "Grannie."

When I was a kid there used to be a really goofy SOB doing movie reviews on Channel 9 named "Davey Marlin Jones".

What ever happened to him?

Davey Marlin Jones retired from reviewing movies for Channel 9 in 1988. In 1989 he joined the faculty of the Drama Department at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he was an award-winning teacher of directing, acting and playwriting for many years. Active in the yearly American College Theater Festival, Davey saw the Festival's Respondent's Choice Award renamed the "Davey Marlin Jones Respondent's Choice Award" in his honor.

Davey passed away in 2004. Funeral services were held on the UNLV campus in Las Vegas and at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC.
