NoVA Piercing Parlors

Anyone have any recommendations on local piercing parlors? I know some of the usual suspects like Marlowe and Exposed, but was wondering if anyone has any personal experiences they'd like to share?

I edited that for you, to make it more accurate.

You're welcome.

Since you crave attention, why not just dye your hair purple...it's much safer.

Better yet, accomplish something in life that people will take note of and seek you out.

It's not that they crave attention. Apparently, they are "expressing their inividuality".

Back in the mid-90's when this whole piercing and tattoo craze was just starting, I was at Tower Records in Tyson's and the cashier had roughly 30 pieces of metal in his face.

I couldn't resist asking him what the hell that was all about, and he said "I don't know. I'm just expressing my individuality".

I pointed at another clerk sorting through some returned videos, and asked "Are you sure? Because it looks like it's his individuality you are expressing, if you ask me."

Yes, but we have lots of fun.

There must be some reason you keep returning to this site to post comments, riiiight?

My boss is actually pretty cool. I get away with murder at work, and he always covers for me. I get paid way too much for the little work I have to do. No frustrations there.

My girlfriend works overnight as a nurse. She's borderline anorexic, some would say. I usually kill time on here while I wait for her to get off work at 7, and then we have all the time in the world to play around (see: "My boss is actually pretty cool, I get away with murder"; I don't have "office hours", I can show up at 11 or 1 or just send an email that I'm "working from home".) No frustrations there.

I'm pretty sure I don't have a needle dick. Everytime I pay for sex, they always tell me it's sooooo biiiig!:) Quite frankly, I'm not obsessed with my penis size. I'm not 17 and insecure, and I've never heard any complaints from any girl I've ever dated. So, no frustrations there, either.

You, on the other hand, are getting more and more frustrated each time someone posts a comment that you don't like. You lack a sense of humor and obviously take everything way too seriously. If this forum is causing you this much heartache, you're going to have one hell of a turbulent and unpleasant life ahead of you.

Sir, if you were so comfortable with your life, you wouldn't feel the need to explain yourself. Just an observation.

Why would you bet that? Is that your experience in such situations?

You should talk to magmaswank about your propensity towards sexual stimulation when you speak to pierced-faced store clerks. I hear she's going to be a sex therapist.

Well, if you are a grown man like you claim, then I'd think you'd have more wherewithal than to flame and argue with a teenage girl. I'd think you'd be more mature than that.

I've been quite polite in my comments. I've never threatened to kill anyone, and I keep the foul language to a minimum.

If you think my comments were flames, you must be as young and naive and scared of the big bad world as magmaswank. Don't take the world so seriously. It'll only lead to stress and heart disease. Lighten up.

Here I thought I was being offensive.

You pay for sex, Bob? Wow, you really are a loser! I'm sure pros tell all their john's that they're huge. In Bob's imaginary world he has a foot long dick and bangs the hottie nurse every night when she gets off (work that is). In reality, he has no job, lives off his parents, and still bangs Helga, the 250 pound family maid that used to change his diapers when he was a kid!

While it's not in NOVA, Jinx Proof in Georgetown is an amazing tattoo/piercing shop. I have gotten two tragus piercings there while my friends have had eyebrows, tongues, and other things pierced there.

The shop is very clean and the piercers are totally professional. Their prices are not bad and the quality of the work is worth it. I would rather pay a little more to know it was being done right.

Hope this helps!

What's wrong with Marlowe Ink? They pierced my nose and have been helpful when I needed a nose screw changed or adjusted (although I've just switched to bones so I can change them myself).

They also pierced a friend's tongue and put an industrial bar in her ear.

Almost anything is going to be more expensive in NoVA than Richmond. But isn't the convenience worth the extra cost? Not to mention avoiding any potential contact with Meade Skelton?

If it's FREE it's too much!

Listen you young guys and gals...don't waste your money on that nonsense.

A LOT of people think tattoos+piercings=KOOK.

I know you don't care what people think....NOW, but you can't deliver pizzas forever...someday when you grow up you might need/want a serious job. Believe me, people won't take you seriously with metal shit sticking out your nose, ears, etc.

At the very least, put it where it doesn't show. I do a lot of investing and if a financial advisor I was interviewing showed up with that shit...I'd walk right the hell out of there.

Meade Skelton... I don't know where to start. Read off-topic.

I think my nose piercing was $50. It wasn't more than that.

I agree to a certain extent; there are individuals that will judge you for body piercings/tattoos. You would be naive to believe that it can't impact your job opportunities. However, we've already had an extensive conversation on this.

The truth is that it depends on many factors such as your industry and work environment/culture. At my workplace, we have a lot of programmers from India that have a nose piercing for cultural reasons. I don't have that excuse, but it hasn't hurt my career. And yes, I mean career; I don't deliver pizza.

Piercings are at least temprorarily temporary, meaning you can take them out for work, so long as you don't look like a block of swiss cheese with it all taken out. Most programming jobs, even at some stuffy corporations, would let you get away with one or two piercings, without taking them out at work. Except maybe for meeting with clients or vendors, then they might ask you to take them out.

Tattoos are the real problem. Especially if you interview with or have a boss who knows what some of the tattoos mean. (good luck getting a job with a teardrop tattoo under the corner of your eye, for example) -- and most of the time you won't get the job not because they are "judging" you good or bad, but because they have a specific image they want to project about their company, and tattoos generally don't go very well with a company's image.

It's naive to assume that if someone wants a piercing or a tattoo that it means a facial piercing or visible tattoo.

Depending on if I wear a suit or a polo to work, appx. 85% - 95% of my body is covered with clothing.

Do you really think that facial tattoos are that popular?

I have 12 ear piercings, as well as my nose and a few others that aren't visable in the office, and I have never had an issue, I wear my hair down at big business meetings and I don't feel the need to ever take out a single piercing for my job. Ever since I got my piercings, I have never had an perspective employer not offer me a job I was going after. I think it is a little naive to think that the world is not changing and that this isn't becoming more of a social norm. I don't deliver pizzas or work at hot topic I have a very successful career working with the public in event management for a large non-profit.

More on the topic, Ricks is great and so is Marlowe (for piercings NOT tattoos, they totally jacked up a friends tattoo, Anna Marlowe is not a good artist at all). Jinx Proof is totally over priced and it is only because it is in Goergetown. Don't waste your money going downtown it so isn't worth it!
