More Federal Gov't Help You Didn't Know You Needed (Crossing Guards)

New Federal Highway Administration regulations state that Crossing Guards shall not direct traffic.

Accordingly, it is in line with these regulations that Fairfax County Police have examined their current practices and are making some changes to ensure they are creating a safe environment for both the guards and the children.

Fairfax County Police will deploy additional patrol and motor officer assets at schools next week to evaluate the need for changes to the traffic flow, additional signage and changes to VDOT traffic light timings.

Based on these recommendations, the proper authorities will work together to make any necessary changes. I am confident that Fairfax County Police and FCPS will ensure traffic flows are not severely altered while also providing a safe environment around drop-off and pick-up times.
