No idea what the circumstances were here, but the fact is there is a large network of former Playboy Playmates, including at least 1 from this area, who use their status to become super-high priced "escorts" in the US, Europe, and Middle East. Most also take recreational drugs or are pill abusers. Many are recognizable names, or at least as recognizable as a Playboy Playmate can really get. You can easily find details via a simple google search.
One has to wonder how much the magazine is aware of the issue, or even profiting from it... they went through terrible financial issues as a company yet are still in business, which happens to be based in Chicago (mob, prostitutes, money laundering... makes some sense).
