Democracy is for People Admendment

At present, bills to pass a constitutional admendment to overturn Citizens United are gaining momentum in Congress. They are H.J. Res. 119 (House) and S.J. Res. 19 (Senate). This admendment would simply give Congress and the States the power to regulate money in politics. At present, 48 senators have cosponsored the bill in the Senate and there are 116 cosponsors in the House. If you have ever worried about the negative effect of corruption in politics, now is the time to contact your representatives to urge them to support thiese bills.

For more information, or the exact language of the bills, go to Public Citizen.

Let's get involved. We are slowly losing our democracy.

Um, yeah. Heard about this. It's a cover for them to decide who has too much political speech and to curtail it.

No thanks. This is something any reasonable person should object to.

Why do liberals ALWAYS want to tell people what to do with their money. I don't love the roll of campaign spending in our politics, but how, in America, can the government tell people they can't donate money to something in which they believe.

I presume the amendment, if passed, would exempt labor unions.

I think they are trying to preserve what democracy we have left. If $$ = votes then this is just an Oligarchy (which it mostly is). Just look at China to see what all that deregulation will do for your water and air.

Again, I think large expenditures are potentially corrupting. But our country is based on freedom. You assert that $$=votes but that is not a truism. Many well-funded and self-funded campaigns have spent enormous amounts of money and lost.

Deregulation is not the cause of water and air pollution in China. It was horrible before deregulation. The Soviet Union was highly regulated and suffered from terrible environmental destruction.

Lol no they aren't. Russian industrialism was never well regulated. Thats just revisionist history.

Tell David Koch he's winning in remaking the reality of industry in the world.

+1000 our job creators ARE the ones that should make the laws of our land. They create us and I trust them. Why does everybody equate large corporations with profit motive? We all know that rich democrats are the ones trying to steal money for themselves because they are selfish and want to then give it to people in need motive, thing...

Anyway back to my point it is Corporations that should use as much money as they want to elect our leaders because that is good.

So the amendment would prohibit Union money? That was the impetus for corporate giving in the first place.

How libertarian of you, you temporarily embarrased millionaire. I have never understood why so many broke ass fucks can't wait to carry their water and suck corporate cock as long as its not the government. A classic case of the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
