So, you picked out two drivers. How many years experience do they have? I bet these aren't new drivers.

When my kids went to school I always gave them a $25.00 dollars gift card for Christmas because I thought they earn about 20k and they get summer off and winter and spring break.

To make that much money driving a school bus you have to:

Have 20+ years and be at or near the top of the pay scale (about $28 an hour)

AND (most importantly) you have to be a member of the "transportation family" ie, related to the hillbillies that run the place. This insures that you get lots of hours, field trips, and summer work and "special assignments".

I was NOT a member of the "family" and drove for 5 years and only cracked $30K one year. Just couldn't get the hours.

How can they say this? As far as I know, bus drivers are hourly employees, not salaried. Yearly pay all depends on how many hours they worked.

You are correct. Whoever typed those numbers made them up. Bus drivers are indeed paid by the hour as opposed to salary. 40,000 is generally the ballpark starting rate for TEACHERS who HAVE COMPLETED bachelors degrees, just check the payscales atfcps.edu. If a bus driver who sits on their bum in a vehicle all day earned more than teachers who would be going to school for 6 years these days. LOl

They earn overtime if they log more than 40 hours in a work week. Unlikely during the summer.
