Police officer's son charged with cruiser joyride
http://www.wtop.com/41/3594465/Police-officers-son-charged-with-cruiser-joyride

CENTREVILLE, Va. (AP) -- The son of a Fairfax County police officer has been charged with taking his father's police cruiser on a joyride.

Twenty-seven-year-old James Michael Puebla Berling of Centreville was charged with impersonating a police officer, unauthorized use of a vehicle and reckless handling of a firearm.

Authorities say a state trooper saw the Fairfax County Police car speeding along Route 29 in Centreville about 1 a.m. on March 16. The trooper followed, and police say Berling stopped the car and fled on foot. Police say he was wearing his father's uniform shirt when arrested.

Police said the firearm charge stemmed from a separate complaint of a suspicious noise at Berling's home.

Fairfax County Police say the father, James Berling, was out of town at the time and will not face punishment.

James Berling, Son of Fairfax Co. Officer, Arrested for Driving Police Cruiser, Firing Weapon
http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/James-Berling-Son-of-Fairfax-Co-Officer-Arrested-for-Driving-Police-Cruiser-253441841.html

A 27-year-old man has been arrested for driving his father's marked police cruiser and unlawfully firing a weapon, all while wearing his father's uniform shirt.

Crews initially responded to the 15000 block of Stillfield Place in Centreville around 2 a.m. March 16 for suspicious noises. They say 27-year-old James MIchael Puebla Berling, a son of a Fairfax County police officer, fired a gun there.

Shortly after, a trooper noticed a Fairfax County police cruiser driving over the speed limit on Route 29. Fearing an officer was in distress, the trooper gave chase to offer assistance.

At some point during the drive, Berling had activated his police lights.

Troopers caught up with him back on Stillfield Place, at which Berling and a passenger attempted to escape into nearby woods. They were arrested and charged shortly after.

Berling was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, impersonating a police officer and wreckless discharge of a weapon. Officials say the gun fired by Berling was not issued to police.

Caitlin Lee, 18, of Centreville was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, possession of marijuana and schedule I or II narcotic.

Since when does FCPD provide take home cruisers? I'm sure the brass have them, but they are unmarked cars.

So, if daddy was out of town, what was a marked cruiser doing at his house?

Exactly. Each of the cruisers have a shotgun in it. So if the keys were accessible and not in a lock box, then the son got the cruiser and a shotgun. Sounds like a violation of General Orders to me. Berling should face discipline as well. Another example of "selective discipline" by the Command Staff idiots of the FCPD.

The officer HAD TO KNOW that his son was fucked up and doing drugs, So instead of kicking him out of the house, he left the cruiser keys available when he went out of town. What a real winner that officer is.

Huh? Shooting a gun in our backyard then stealing your Dad's cop car and driving with the SIRENS ON with a high school senior sitting shotgun? How can you NOT laugh at stupidity like that? This wasn't some unfortunate accident, this was something that someone decided to do that was so stupid that it's funny.

What makes this "less funny" is how the police are handling it. Those charges are all Class 1 misdemeanors - for stealing a cop car and shooting a gun. Wonder what they would've been if it were someone else..

Son of Fairfax officer arrested after taking cruiser, firing shots, police say
http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/crime/son-of-fairfax-officer-arrested-after-taking-cruiser-firing-shots-state-police-say/2014/04/01/b5c4ed36-b90e-11e3-96ae-f2c36d2b1245_story.html

The son of a Fairfax County police officer has been arrested for taking his father’s cruiser out for a high-speed drive and activating the emergency lights, wearing a police uniform shirt and firing a gun, authorities said.

James Michael Puebla Berling, 27, of Centreville, and an acquaintance are facing a number of charges after a Virginia State Police trooper spotted the cruiser speeding down Route 29 in Centreville with its lights on shortly after 1 a.m. on March 16, state police said.

Trooper J.H. Stubblefield followed the cruiser at a distance and notified Fairfax County police. As the trooper rounded a corner in his car, he saw the cruiser pull onto Stillfield Place and stop, state police said.

The driver and the passenger fled into the woods on foot. The trooper was able to detain the passenger, who was identified as 18-year-old Caitlin Lee of Centreville, authorities said. Berling was apprehended after Fairfax County police set up a perimeter and searched the area. Berling was found wearing his father’s uniform shirt, authorities said.

Fairfax County police had received reports of shots fired in the area earlier in the evening, police said. When they investigated, police said, they determined that Berling had fired a weapon inside his home.

Fairfax County Police Officer James Berling was out of town when the cruiser was taken and is not facing any disciplinary action, Fairfax County police said. The weapon fired inside the home was not a service weapon, police said.

The younger Berling is facing charges of unauthorized use of vehicle, reckless handling of a firearm and impersonating a law enforcement officer. Lee is facing charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.

No attorneys are listed for Berling and Lee in court records, and neither could be reached for comment.

If it looks like the cop's spending is above his earnings, REPORT HIM TO THE IRS. It is very easy for a investigation to prove earnings vs spending. If it doesn't match up, he is screwed. This is how drug dealers, Al Capone, etc get caught under Federal Law by not reporting all income. DO IT.

You are all losers with agenda's that nobody will ever understand, only because you hide behind your internet anonymity. None of you have the balls to identify yourselves because you are afraid of the consequences of your words. Believe me....there are consequences for your words and actions. So just keep pushing your (BS) propaganda. Maybe you will find an audience but deep down inside, realize you are all cowards. If you have something to speak to me about regarding my family, you know where to find me. Otherwise addios and enjoy your pathetic insignificant lives.

Hi Officer Berling, this is Internal Affairs. We will be speaking again shortly right after your son is convicted in court. We will be very interested to hear if more information is given in court that what you told us. We will see you on the court date. By the way, you must have something to worry about if you are so interested in what this website has to say about your family. Does the truth hurt?
