WMAL. reporter failed to identify self. (SACRAMENTO, Calif.) -- Across the West, an historic drought — the worst in more than a century — has sparked a water crisis that for the first time has forced California officials to impose mandatory statewide water restrictions.

“We need water,” Gov. Gerry Brown said Wednesday. “We’re gonna have to get water.”

"Lawn sprinklers and car washes aren’t the only culprits though. Agriculture uses 80 percent of the state’s water."

Homeowners and businesses (violators that are not democrats), face fines of up to $500 a day for improper water use

(ah. we see the city takes the opportunity to oppress with fines)

yea it wouldn't be a free illegal immigrant policy of California asking for a explosion in population while their theiving asses refusing to spend money on important things like: water supply (and power plants) they know are going to be required and are expensive. giving expensive USA resources out free while the same is not going the other way.

be like over loading an elevator. selling too many tickets. same thing. the calpers will just skip town to somewhere wehre there is water and power when their coffers are full

they do it for votes, it's a pyramid scheme for a little profit, a massive ammount of damage, on a massive scale

yes we know you need water it's CA and we know you knew your short on water the whole damn time. we know.

It is the fault of governments that subsidize water consumption by farms. Try reading true conservatives instead of watching Fox News:

Quote

In an America without the massive coercive power of the federal government, the population centers in the West would generally be near the water sources where irrigation and drinking water would be cheaper and easier to use. When powerful interest groups own land far away from water sources, on the other hand, there is no “solution” so impractical that billions of taxpayer dollars can’t make it happen. The politicians will simply see to it that the water is moved where the lobbyists tell them it should have been in the first place. The result is that farmers will grow water-thirsty crops in central Arizona and central California where water must be transported over mountains and across hundreds of miles of arid landscape.

we all know about irrigation - that's older than the pyramids. we also know that using more water than one is paying for, showing every day etc, while importing more people wihtout upgrade (while upgrading from 1 car garages to 4-car garages and such):

is a city phenomenon

1) don't beleive the article applies to any standards - who gets land loans and water access. i know polititians have been known to get loans to buy farms - which no one else would get. one NJ polititian bought a farm in VA on a loan THEN paid after becoming a VA polititian. that was no setup

2) america is reportedly importing more food than exporting (parly due to huge immigrant influx w/o improvement to farms) - we need food

3) democrat sacks of shit have been doing suburban sprawling in urban areas with their gov cash - decreasing good farmland that isn't dry

------------------------
and from California i wouldn't even beleive "must be transported"

they would take credit for "transporting water" were it done naturally

I love the way that people who have no understanding whatsoever can glibly dismiss anything that does not coincide with their narrow world view. Your semi-literate reply speaks volumes.

grocery stores use an unfair ammount of refrigerant power and refrigerant prices are too high and it's too hot in the clothing store. they should be fined.

Actually the real reason is because they are so overly developed/too many people in those areas. Not enough leafy trees and such to promote humidity and water/rainfall.

Unlike oil, water isn't destroyed by using it. It just pops up again somewhere else. What we have then is not a problem with the supply of water, but rather with management of the supply of water. The "pay no attention" model has left us with shortages of usable water in places where water is needed. We'll need to be a little more rational than that.
