Democrats Can't Stop Budget from Passing: Republicans Hold the Line on Runaway Spending
Posted by: Va. Budget Reality ()

Weeks after the regular General Assembly session ended in March, Virginia lawmakers passed a budget around midnight Friday.

The two-year budget does not include any expansion of the state’s Medicaid program, which had been the major sticking point between the Republican-controlled House of Delegates, the divided state Senate and Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D).

Republicans -- serving mindless partisan passions instead of the people of Virginia.

Yeah, at the local, state, and national levels, these right-wing ideologues have been focused like a laser on trying to halt progress and keep things as bad as possible since 2007. Before that, they were busy MAKING things as bad as possible.

They're doing the job their constituents elected them to do. Stopping McAwful's
Socialist agenda.

How did this McAwful guy get elected then? Seems to me that all those votes were in favor of his socialist agenda. Which prominently included Medicaid expansion. But never mind. Republicans will lose on Medicaid expansion. It's just a matter of how and when.

He ran his campaign using the Clinton playbook, which he helped write. He got democrat donors to fund a 3rd party candidate (ala Ross Perot) to run as a libertarian. The funding allowed Sarvis to run radio ads and slick mailers to peel off votes from Cuccinelli. Cuccinelli lost by 2½ points and Sarvis got almost 7% of the vote, much more than enough to win it for McAuliffe. There were other factors as well such as the government shutdown the month before the election just as the GOP pulled funding from Cuccinelli allowing McAuliffe to run unchallenged ads blaming the GOP and Cuccinelli for the shutdown.

Don't fool yourself. McAuliffe snuck into office and has absolutely no mandate. The House of Delegates and (now) the Senate remain in Republican hands. Whether you grok it or not, the republicans in the HoD do and they don't fear McAuliffe at all. They laugh at how lame and ineffective he is.

The Republicans hold a 2-1 majority in the House of Delegates in case you haven't noticed. They weren't elected to kiss Obama//Clinton/McAuliffe ass. BTW, are you aware they're no longer called the House of Burgesses? McAwful was elected on Obama's coat tails and nothing more.

By "progress" I assume you mean enslaving yet another 400,000 people to medicaid, a system so corrupt that fraud is estimated to be between $80 and $270 BILLION per year. (Source: The Economist, look it up yourself.)

Real "progress" would be if Democrats actually did anything to help lift these people out of poverty. Or at the very least didn't try to bankrupt the Commonwealth and soak the producers of society with yet another failed social experiment.

Putting people on the dole is not progress. It's the manifestation of failure by individuals, elected officials, and the government (mostly the former since we are all more or less responsible for our own lives). Adding more names to the rolls of the state-dependent is nothing Democrats should take pride in or advance.

Sorry, McAuliffe won n 2013, a full year after Obama won reelection. And Obama barely took Virginia (by about 100K votes), which was one of the last states to be called that election. There aren't any coat tails for Obama.

Not an answer to the question. Medicaid expansion was one of the WINNER's key campaign points. It was the LOSER who campaigned against it and the rest of PPACA as well.

It's happened before and it will happen again. The Commonwealth simply makes no progress and often can't even tread water during these periods. Then we have to turn to Democrats to get things started again. It's the old D to go forward, R for reverse thing. Nothing new here at all.

Um, Obama was elected (again) in 2012. McAuliffe was elected in 2013. But that's okay. No one will think you're dumb just because of that.

I did. The numbers are upper=level estimates for fraud across the entire health care field. You are either too fucking stupid to have understood what was clearly written on the printed page or a total assfuck liar trying to pass on total garbage numbers in a for-shit attempt to save your worthless assfuck cause. Worthless piece of right-wing goober trash either fucking way.

Republicans consistency vote to block such things. For 50 years, poverty rates have trended UP under Republican Presidents and DOWN under Democratic Presidents. What people own under right-wing Bush/Koch ownership societies is MORE FUCKING RISK. And that risk proceeds to bite them in the ass. Get at least one fucking clue here, goober!

Hey, dumbfuck. The feds pay for 100% of the first three years of Medicaid expansion, then it drops off to 90% in 2020 and all years thereafter. By which time simple savings on outlays under presently existing state health care grant programs will have been more than enough to offset 10% difference. Put that dick in your mouth and suck on it, fucktard.

Ignorant asswipe. Medicaid is last-resort health care coverage for fucking INDIGENT people. These people are not by any stretch ever going to be able to afford or procure coverage in a for-profit market. The caseload is comprised of children in low-income families, people with serious diseases and disabilities, the indigent elderly and pregnant women, and some parents and other critical caregivers who meet income tests. But I'm wasting words on an asshole like you. You're just colossally ignorant and determined to remain so.

Off yourself, you pathetic dumbfuck. I was paying the AMT before you knew what the fuck it was. If you even do today. These are not in any case money issues. It's all about not being stupid and you hopeless assholes cannot fucking manage to pull that off.
