AOL Proxy servers temporarily banned
Posted by: Cary ()
Date: August 05, 2008 07:55PM

I had to temporarily ban the AOL proxy servers because of the recent crapflood in the Fairfax General forum.

Users originating from AOL's proxy servers will not be able to post.

AOL users,
Please use a regular web browser and not your AOL web browser to post to this site.

I will lift this ban once the crazy poster has vacated.

What's this all about? See this thread: http://www.fairfaxunderground.com/forum/read/2/113581.html

Thanks for keeping the forum up Cary. Also good to know for sure that the person who's handle is "Moderator" has no such powers. Thanks!

LOL!

The person with the handle "Moderator" has been banned. He never was or never will be any sort of real moderator.

In fact because of this abuse I've prevented anyone from posting with the word "moderator" in their user name, registered or anonymous.

The user "Moderator" hid behind a network of many proxy servers which made it harder for me to ban him. He's likely the same person as "Alias" who has a similar network of proxy servers. However this has not been confirmed.

Just letting you guys know what I know.

And yeah, sorry, I should've taken out that "Moderator" character months ago but I (mistakenly) let him keep posting under the name in the hopes that he'd bring a little more order to this place. Seems I've been putting undue trust in people again, a fatal flaw. I will not be so forgiving in the future.

Sucks for AOL users. Maybe next time register a complaint with AOL and have them terminate the users account. Their logs should show who it was.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks again for all the effort you put into keeping this board up and running.

Buy yourself a beer from me. LOL

This is easily a threat of violence against TheMeeper, and even though Alias may decide to post under other IDs his "Alias" account should be suspended.

He would just come back as some other douchebag.
Alias is like a fart, offensive, but ultimatly harmless.

To Cary and all FU posters:

All of you regulars knew I was not a Moderator with any admin power. FU needed a Moderator……Cary was too busy. All of you said as much in your postings. I will concede, a new poster who posted something outrageously racist, might have perceived me to be a Moderator and in a couple of cases, they apologized for their postings. Was that so bad?

FU needs someone to delete and moderate the postings which are clearly racist and anti Semitic. They should not be ignored.

A real Moderator would see that as a liability for the forum. A real Moderator would not reveal identities of posters as theMeeper has done in the past. You will find no record of me ever “outing” any of you. Or, ever re-outing you. When TheMeeper alleges X=X poster, he is comparing IP’s which clearly has not been a good identifier since some use proxy servers to post. I believe it too be destructive to the forum for FU admin to reveal such info. To my knowledge, Cary has not done this. It’s TheMeeper who has been sharing info. Whatever……that’s not my style.

I, posting as The Moderator, was banned following a posting altercation with TheMeeper. He lied. That’s it. He possibly overreacted because he believes me to be one and the same as Alias. I am not Alias and unlike TheMeeper, I don’t lie. If any of you care to review my postings prior to the Meeper altercation, I believe they read very much like a “Moderator”. I even changed my posting name to CrazedMod to protect the image of TheModerator. As you all quickly discovered, I still had the ability to post under that name. But, again, I choose to insulate the name soon after TheMeeper snapped and began posting lies and I reacted.

I’m still willing to pick up where I left off. As an aside, all Cary had to do was PM me with his concerns and or suggestions. I would have respected him and altered my style if it would have assisted the forum.

Cary, you did not put trust in the wrong person. Good luck finding another Moderator.

Bullshit. You knew full well you were disliked for your BS posts Alias, you had no intention of cutting out the crap and Cary had to resort to blowing away your account. Boo hoo.

By my count he had zero then and has zero now, no "good luck" necessary.

Alias is back to his/her old games; now using the name "Alias-Deputy Mderator." http://www.fairfaxunderground.com/forum/profile.php?40,5703

FU doesn't need some self-appointed Political Correctness police to moderate. I'd prefer to take the bad with the good and let freedom reign! If I was looking for politically correct, moderated forums, I'd go to any mainstream media site.

I'm confused. I thought Alias was a thoughtful, 40-ish woman - not a guy and certainly not someone who would post this kind of petty crap.
