RESTON MAN FACES 2 ASSAULT CHARGES AFTER FIGHT IN VIENNA: Vienna police dispatched an officer to Westwood Country Club, 800 Maple Ave., E., on April 10 at 9:25 p.m. after a local resident reported that several people were fighting in the club’s parking lot.

The responding officer located two of the people in the parking lot, who informed the officer they had agreed to give an intoxicated friend a ride home when he reportedly became disorderly, broke a rear-passenger window of the vehicle and assaulted them, police said.

After speaking with the suspect, the officer arrested Juann Radwill Tubbs, 48, of Reston. While the officer and suspect were en route to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, the suspect became disorderly and struck his head against the protective partition and side window of the police cruiser, police said.

Authorities charged the suspect with two counts of assault and battery and one each for public drunkenness and property destruction. Authorities held the suspect without bond.

Man with a Grenade at Union Station

At approximately 8:52 p.m., on June 9, 2003, Juann Radwill Tubbs was arrested for Assault with Intent to Rob While Armed outside of Union Station, after threatening to detonate a hand grenade. The charge has since been changed to Threatening to Use an Explosive Device to Injure or Damage Property.

The United States Capitol Police received a call for assistance at 8:10 p.m. stating that there was a man with a grenade inside of Union Station. The Capitol Police responded to assist Amtrak Police Department, where they spotted the individual heading west bound on G Street NE holding something in his hand. As the officers approached the man, he pulled out a grenade and removed the pin.

Immediately, the USCP gained custody of the subject while the Amtrak officer gained control over the grenade.

The USCP Hazardous Device Section responded to the area, closing down G Street NE, between North Capitol and First Street NE. The device was carefully taken from the hands of the Amtrak officer and placed in the sphere of the USCP bomb truck in order to determine our render safe procedures (RSP).

There was also a black duffle bag on the scene in which the individual had claimed to have additional explosives in. This bag was carefully searched by the USCP and revealed one additional hand grenade.

Both were taken and secured overnight in the sphere. Earlier this morning, the grenades were taken to a remote site and rendered safe. It was determined that neither of the grenades had a detonator and that both primers had been previously fired.
