Grist Mill on Pope's Head Creek

I am from Dothan, Alabama and have been researching my family's history. I have traced it all the way back to a Richard Kirtland who acquired 290 acres of land near Clifton. The property started at the intersection of Bull Run Creek and Pope's Head Creek and ran slightly southeast from that junction almost to Evan's Ford Road, while going south to around Yates Ford Road. In the description, I read that when he acquired the land around 1730, there was an existing Water Grist Mill on the property on Popes Head Creek. I am trying to determine if this Mill, or the ruins of it, are still visible. My wife and I will be in Washington on May 2-8 and i would love to get a pic of it if it still exists. If anyone has any knowledge of it, please let me know !!! From what I have seen in maps of the area, it could be in the Hemlock Overlook Park. Much of the park is in the area that once belonged to Richard Kirtland (see Pic)
Thanks !!

You should call the Virginia Room at the Fairfax Library. It's dedicated to local history. If there's info about it, they have it.

So when you do these threads where you post these people's names and email addresses in hopes that we mess with them, are they randomly selected or do you already have your "victims" in mind?

Just curious.

Wow. You're seriously paranoid and know nothing about local history.

In sum, no - there are no known mill site ruins definitely associated with Richard Kirkland's mill. All that is known is that it was near Turley's Mill on the Popes Head Creek in the 1740s. But no one knows where that was either.

This might help (and so might the book referenced on the site):

Don't think the mill is still around, but maybe remnants remain at the site?

Apparently not, per TurleysMill.
