So, when was he on 106.7 ???
He wasnt.

A shock jock makes a lot of jokes that offends people. Unfortunately there is one group of people you cant make any jokes about. (make that two, with the gays now).

Its been ten plus years. He did his apology tour. Get over it.

If you actually did care "whatever happened to" him, try wikipedia.

He was on DC 101 after Howard Stern left.

The Greaseman was much more clever and cerebral than his predecessor Howard Stern. I don't think he was actually racist and it was unfortunate he made those 2 or 3 remarks.

Just as blacks can get away with using the n word and being racist, the Greaseman had a similar advantage with the other group. It would just be wrong to accuse a member of the Village People of offending gays.

Oh, the love of hearing the Greaseman cranked up about 25 years ago. Back then, life was quite peaceful and people had fewer issues with their underwear getting bunched up. Then, things changed and in a not-so-good way. Political Correctness was now the new 'norm'. People were forced to embrace it within their place of employment. Yet, it was all superficial. Then, people were encouraged to embrace diversity. Another move by their employers. More sensitivity courses for employees to take which meant more time away from doing the work they were hired to do.

The result? People are more anti-social now than ever. They've been conditioned on how they should act and have just figured that if they don't say anything at all, it will be much safer for them in the long run. However, I also feel that there is a much deeper issue that is never properly addressed. When such rules are forced onto people and employees, nobody has done enough studies to see where things end up over time. Places of employment have become hostile environments where issues can appear quite frequently. Was this ever considered to be an issue in forcing PC on everyone? Or, is it even the result of forced PC?

Again, things were simpler when there were less people trying to tell us how to act, what to say and what not to say. There were people who took advantage of situations. However, there were plenty of us who used our judgment and our own common sense and never offended anyone, but chose to do our work as we were hired to do.

Ah ... the good old days.

Yeah, faggots and queers are such a sensitive bunch. Back in the old days, we dealt with that by beating the shit out of them. I put a few in the hospital when I was a teenager and no one ever said boo about it. The police didn't even to respond to such events.

The bits did suck, It was ok at the time, the late 80's early 90's...It's still would be better than anything they have on now. What they play now makes the grease man look like Radio gold.

Back in the early 1990s Greaseman was king of D.C. radio. I remember when he used to have live studio audiences on Fridays and BJ Pumpernickels would cater the food. And then he moved to New York City to do a nationwide radio show at night. He tried to be move serious and had a female co-host. After a few years that format failed and he came back to DC to do a show on 94.7 WARW, but by then his shtick was old and felt stale.

liberals hated greasman because white people who regularly partied, but never during the work week, loved him - and they were known as the most productive work crews in the world at the time (or at least they were told so)

in those days radio on the weekend nights had time set aside for "music only" so people having others over for partee could use the radio as the party music

i dont think anyone ever used Muzak as party music but i wouldn't know

and europe was calling america the devil because of their sucess (they were still hurting from all their wars, still kneeling to rich parliament leadership, while USA was minding the dollar and polititians were simply trumped if industry decided to come out in the media against them)

It appears that the Greaseman was very smart with his money. The big salary ended about 15 years ago and he seems to be semi-retired and enjoying life. Most of these DJs are broke a year after going off the air.

He really was a unique talent.

Listened to him all the time before school in the mid '80s

I liked him better than Stern and Don and Mike.

Although, I did tune in to Don and Mike on WAVA to find out the "burnt toast and coffee time."

The only thing Doug Tracht ever did was prove that no matter how talented a white man is, he can't say, "Well, if they'd plug 4 more, we'd a gotten the whole week off..." or refer to Lauryn Hill by stating, "...no wonder people drag them behind trucks.", a reference to the murder of James Byrd...and keep your job. One of those remarks was more than enough. The second one is inexcusable.
