Dear God, shut up. The out of state kids pay a LOT more tuition. Virginia pays WAY less in state support to the major universities than, say, North Carolina. So UVA/W&M/Tech have no choice but to let more out of state kids in. Don't like it? Tell your state government to cough up more green. In the meantime, Buffy can go to Longwood and learn how to blow farmboys.

As a minority, I think that affirmative action is the stupidest thing I ever heard.

I shudder to think that in a generation all our bridges and buildings will be built by niggers and women who were accepted into engineering schools and given passing grades just so the college can reach its quota and receive more money from the government.

It's a mixed bag. The reality is that institutions of higher learning in VA tend to spend a good deal more than those in other (nearby) states, thus the higher overall costs (VA = $7700/NC = $3482 2012) We're also screwed by our debt service (one of only a handful of States w/T&F going to debt service in 2012).

Let's be real- who is hiring black people right now? NO ONE.

Hyprocrites. I'll say it again. You're HYPOCRITES.

You Employers:

--Complain black people don't want to work.

Then:

--- A black person comes up and asks for a job.

--- You decline to give him the job *because* he is black. He has the qualifications, but you just don't like black people.

--- Then you go right back to saying "all" black people are lazy.

You are part of the problem too.

Ok, yes, so you had a black person fuck up at the office before and they got fired. This does NOT mean NEVER HIRE ANOTHER BLACK AGAIN as it seems out here now. Punishing all black people for the actions of a few.

I feel for all those professional black people who have degrees, no criminal records, and are looking for a job right now. Just because Pookie is black, and Pookie fucked up, it does not mean "Mark" is going to fuck up too just because he is black. And this is exactly what the employers are thinking. Oh, Mark is black? Well he reminds me of Pookie our old employee, I'm not gonna hire him.....and now Mark can't find a job because every company out here already has their token "Pookie" so Mark doesn't even stand a chance.....

I could also say employers are punishing people for voting for Obama by not hiring black people----but then I'd be called racist even though I am pointing out only what I have heard myself from other White people.....so there's that.

Bottomline- you know what it is.

This is getting off topic, but I don't think that organizations don't want to hire black people because they think they're incompetent or because the hiring personnel are racist; it's because they're afraid of being sued if the employee is terminated - for any reason. I've seen that threat a number of times.

I can understand this..but this sucks for the black people who have done *nothing* wrong in their careers. It still aligns with what I said.

So now blacks won't be hired because companies are "ASS-U-ME"'ing (for emphasis) one will sue if they were to be hired...so damn.

Guess blacks are just short. I can't find an easy comeback to that. Once you make it litigious...there is no easy way out.

Back on topic- Mommy- YES I am pissed all the out of state people are taking up all the spots....but you have to realize (just making up numbers)....

Jimmy from VA will only pay UVA 10k a semester to go.

Julie from NY will pay UVA 40k for the same privledge- and she's gonna need some on campus housing....and a food plan....

guess who UVA will want more? (hint- follow the $)

No. I'm always in favor of universities accepting the best students available to them.

This is the story line they feed you. While the nominal out of state tuition is much higher, they will quite often buy it down with grants, scholarships or whatever. BTW the same thing is happening in reverse. Two of mine applied to state schools in the northeast and were offered packages that ended up cheaper than what in state students would have paid.

Go to CNU. It seems to have the lowest percentage of out-of-state students at 6%.

http://www.collegexpress.com/lists/list/percentage-of-out-of-state-students-at-public-universities/360/

Your kid can hob knob with in-staters all they want.
