Would be nice, but don't hold your breath:

what would have to happen:
(1) Trader Joe's wants to come in
(2) Trader Joe's convinces a landlord for a place to stay. I'm not sure if That's Amore has enough space- Safeway, certainly, but that's supposedly getting Walgreens. After that I'm kinda running short on places-- maybe there's enough land on that old gas station plot for a 'basement gargage, two-story store' Trader Joe's but the cost would be prohibitive.
(3) The Town of Vienna approves whatever needs to be approved-- I suspect if they didn't want a Trader Joe's they could find some zoning or other thing to invoke.

Walgreens?

That sucks- there's a CVS about 200 yards from there!

I think the discussion centered around the Hancock Fabrics store next door. Or both Hancock and That's Amore.

They have strippers over at Amma's Vegetarian Kitchen on Friday nights. Always a good idea to call ahead first though just to make sure.

Trader Joe's is highly overrated. I've never understood why people get excited about that place.

Well, Whole Foods, Wegman's, and Sutton Place are far superior in my opinion. I guess it depends on what you are looking for, but my impression of Trader Joe's is that they carry a lot of pre-prepared, packaged, and frozen items, which isn't what I typically buy. They also seem geared towards value, which is fine, but I'd rather pay higher prices for better quality.

I don't think that Traders is necessarily competing with Whole Foods or Sutton Place. Neither of the latter two will say anything about being low priced or price competitive. Traders does. There is a completely different pricing point to the two.

As it pertains to Wegmans, given the HORRENDOUS crowds at Wegmans, I'd rather shop at Traders any. time. of. the. week. The crowd is a complete turn off.

When they first opened the Tysons Station store I used to shop there quite a bit, but I sorta burned out on the place. I've always found their products to be hit-or-miss. I used to really like those frozen French onion soups and big bags of pistachios, but then some of their stuff really sucked, like their crappy hummus. I still like the place, but would rather shop at Whole Foods. In fact, you folks over in Vienna have that real nice Whole Foods.

Is there a backstory I need to know to better appreciate the humor? :)

See, that's what I'm talking about. I'm not saying that these kinds of foods don't have their place but it's just not the kind of thing I get excited about. Frozen soup, bulk items, pre-prepared hummus, etc. One of the few times I was in a Trader Joe's the cashier told me I was lucky because the bread was really fresh--it had just come in yesterday. All the seafood is frozen. No meat department as I recall. I have friends who love it, I just have never understood why.

Friends love it cuz' some of it's organic and cheap. They have stores on the West Coast - so all the CA transplants and hippies like it too. The Traders I've been to in Reston and FFX are always crowded. Seems more trendy than anything, as the food isn't anything to rave about.

Nice to have choices and encourage new businesses to locate in town, though.

I'm so shocked That's Amore and Hancock Fabrics went out of business, where are us old biddies who sew and crochete sweaters supposed to go now for horrible Italian food?
