Fops bus drivers

I am a school bus driver w fcps and I am here to say..
this morning when all the buses were breaking down and we were at our buses by 5am for 8and9 am starts to the school day...
i was so very impressed with the dispatchers, supervisors, drivers and mechanics working as a team, helping each other volunteering for additional runs, picking up students that were,nt normally their responsibility
....all of you who berate the higher ups of fcps, need to know just how hard the people on the front lines work to get your children to school under any circumstance.
You try cranking up a bus in temps in the teens ,3 hours before school starts, you think a 2 hr delay is a delay for the drivers...IT is not appreciate people!appreciate!

And why weren't the buses fired-up the day before. And gassed up? I don't have first hand knowledge - but that sounds like nothing was done.

It's a case of a whole bunch of honest hard work by a number of lower and middle level employees being undone by the incompetence, questionable decisions and poor communications by those higher up.

So to the OP and all those drivers, mechanics, custodians and teachers who busted their asses yesterday in an effort to TRY to make things as close to normal as possible...THANKS.

Fcps has what are called cold start teams these people, usually volunteers come out the day before and/or the day of temps below freeze and start buses to prep for the following day or will come out 1hour (4:am or so)to start buses....so the answer to one of your questions is yes the buses were started the day before and mechanics came out to jump them, change batteries etc.....but it was just too cold and w/MLK day they had sat for 3 days w/no starting......

Just to enlighten you: The school's hierarchy starts with the lunch lady and goes down from there.

Oh, thanks for informing us. Had I know that before, I wouldn't have made my previous comments.

You guys are heroes. Pretty much like fucking Navy SEALs.

The county does, at times, ask for volunteers for this purpose. Just thought I'd mention that these volunteers ARE GETTING PAID. I'm not complaining or saying they should not be paid. I wouldn't do it for free. I didn't even volunteer to do it for pay. Just didn't want there to be a misunderstanding of the use of the word "volunteer".

My kid's bus driver is a retired Air Force colonel. Former C-5A pilot.

There's a strong possibility that he could buy and sell you.
